Colek Pamor Waterfall, Gitgit: A 20-Minute Jungle Trek to Buleleng’s Hidden Falls

Just upstream of the busy Gitgit Waterfall, the same river drops through a cleft in the forest cliffs to form Colek Pamor Waterfall in Gitgit village, Sukasada district, Buleleng. It is about 15–20 metres high, the water runs clear from mountain springs, and on weekdays there are often only a handful of visitors. According to village elders, the name comes from a large rock near the falls that looks as if it has been dabbed with white lime (pamor).

The Trek: 20 Minutes Through Clove Gardens

  • Getting there: Gitgit lies on the Singaraja–Bedugul road; about 30 minutes’ drive from Singaraja, 40–50 minutes from Lovina, around 1 hour from Munduk and 2–2.5 hours from Ubud.
  • Parking: the small car park sits down an alley off the main road and the sign is easy to miss, so slow down as you enter the Gitgit area.
  • Trail: 15–30 minutes each way. The first half is a concrete footpath with two bridges, then it turns to dirt and rock along the stream under banyan trees and villagers’ clove gardens.
  • Navigation: at the first, unsigned junction turn right; at the next three-way junction, take the signed stairs up.

Tickets, Guides & the Three-Waterfall Trek

  • Tickets: there is no fixed fee. detikBali reported a voluntary donation system and parking of around Rp3,000; a visitor guide updated in early 2026 said nothing was charged at the time. Still bring small cash.
  • Guides: not required, but local guides are available for around Rp50,000 and help on the branching paths.
  • Trekking package: a Gitgit trekking operator offers a three-waterfall route — Colek Pamor, Gitgit and Ceburan Dukuh — lasting 3–3.5 hours, about Rp500,000 per person including tickets and a raincoat.
  • Facilities: parking, toilets, food stalls, a security post, rest shelters and a small temple that visitors must respect.

Swimming and Safety

  • The pool at the foot of the falls can be used for a dip, but the surrounding rocks are very slippery. In March 2017 a Malaysian tourist drowned here after reportedly slipping, and the site was temporarily closed.
  • Do not swim when the water is high or after rain; the pool can be deep and the current under the falling water is strong.
  • Wear trekking shoes or sturdy sandals with grippy soles, and bring a change of clothes, insect repellent and a dry bag for your phone.
  • The best time is the dry season (April–October) in the morning, before mist and afternoon rain roll over the hills.
