Since 1998, Indus Restaurant has been one of Ubud’s most iconic tables: a two-level open-air terrace suspended above the Tjampuhan (Campuhan) Valley, with the silhouette of Mount Agung beyond on clear days. Indus belongs to the Casa Luna family founded by Janet DeNeefe, alongside Casa Luna, Honeymoon Guesthouse, Casa Luna Cooking School and Honeymoon Bakery.
The View and the Mood
- Two levels of terrace facing the Tjampuhan gorge; hand-carved columns, terrazzo and teak.
- Mount Agung shows most often from morning to midday in the dry season (May–September).
- Live Latin jazz, salsa and bachata every Saturday, 7.00–9.15pm.
Menu and Price Range
- Indonesian–Balinese and modern Asian cooking: beef rendang, fish curry and barramundi grilled in banana leaf.
- Ubud Valley Dining: a two-course lunch at IDR 195,000++, daily 11am–3pm.
- Happy Hour 4–6pm: two cocktails for IDR 150,000++.
- A la carte typically runs IDR 100,000–250,000 per person; the ++ means tax and service are not yet included.
Getting There and What to Bring
- Jl. Raya Sanggingan No. 88X: a 5–10 minute drive (about 2 km) from Ubud Market, near the Neka Art Museum.
- Allow 1.5–2 hours from Canggu or Ngurah Rai Airport; Jalan Sanggingan is narrow and parking is limited.
- Guests of Honeymoon Guesthouse and Casa Luna can use the free shuttle between the group’s outlets.
- Ask for a cliff-edge table between 5.00 and 6.30pm and bring a light jacket; the valley wind turns cool after rain.
