Segno is a speakeasy-style cocktail bar on the second floor of Luma restaurant, Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No.91, Canggu, and its door really is disguised as a sliding fire exit. Yutaka Nakashima, founder of Koda in Jakarta, opened it in 2022, and in 2026 it still sits on the best-bars-in-Canggu lists of Honeycombers and NOW! Bali. These are the eight things people most often miss before climbing its red-carpeted stairs.
8 things people miss
- You enter through Luma. There is no big sign on the street. Find Luma on Batu Bolong and ask the staff for Segno. The entrance is a sliding door that looks like an emergency exit.
- Hours differ between sources. NOW! Bali (February 2026) lists 7pm-2am daily, while The West Australian (July 2025) lists 7pm-1.30am on weekdays and until 2am at weekends. Friday and Saturday after dinner are the hardest times to get a bar seat without a booking.
- Cocktails start at about IDR 165k. That figure comes from Honeycombers (January 2026) and Mata Berawa (July 2026). Chope gives a range of IDR 250-400k per person, before tax and service. Rare Japanese whisky is sold by the shot at far higher prices.
- There is a smart casual dress code. That is rare in Canggu. Leave the singlet, board shorts and flip-flops at the villa; a shirt or neat top with closed shoes is the safe choice.
- 21+ and bring ID. The legal age to buy alcohol in Indonesia is 21. Carry your passport or a photo of it if you look young (more in Bali's drinking age rules).
- Book via Chope, phone or Instagram DM. Groups should ask about the private rooms. NOW! Bali says there are two, in addition to the bar seats and sofas.
- What people order. There are more than 30 signature cocktails. The ones the press mentions most are the Cloudy Sour, the Umami Dirty Saketini and the Jamu Mule (jamu-infused vodka with ginger beer). Ice is hand-cut, and the bartenders will build a drink around your taste.
- It is not a dancing bar. The music is low and the lights are dim. If your group wants a DJ and a dance floor, use Segno as the first stop and move on.
The downsides
Prices are on par with a five-star hotel bar, so three drinks each can easily pass IDR 600k after tax. Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong is also jammed at night and scooter parking in front of Luma is limited. For another speakeasy in the area, The Mailroom in Berawa uses a mailbox-key entry and requires a booking.
Getting home from Batu Bolong
Batu Bolong stays busy with scooters until late, and the arak-based cocktails here are not light. After two drinks, leave the scooter and book a Grab or Gojek with the pickup set in front of Luma, not in the middle of the narrow road. For why some bars close earlier than their listed hours, see bar and club closing times in Bali.
Location and bookings

- Bookings: Chope (search "Segno Bali"), the phone number on its Google Maps listing, or Instagram DM
- Instagram: @segno.bali

One last tip: order one signature cocktail first, then ask the bartender to build your second glass from ingredients you like. That is often how you get the best drink of the night.
