Klepon Gianyar Since 1980: Prices, Hours and How to Order

Klepon at Warung Klepon Gianyar start at Rp10,000 for 10 pieces, and an order of 100 costs Rp70,000. This stall at Jalan Kalantaka No. 14, Sengguan, in Gianyar town has been selling since 1980 and was still on detikBali's list of iconic Gianyar food in June 2026.

Why is this klepon famous?

They are slightly oval rather than the small round Javanese kind, and the filling is liquid palm sugar that bursts when you bite. The green comes from suji and pandan leaves. The dough is filled with sugar, boiled for about two minutes, then rolled in hand-grated coconut. According to detikBali (2023), the stall goes through about 60 kg of glutinous rice and 40 coconuts a day. RRI (August 2026) says it was formerly known as Klepon Ida Bagus Nyoman.

How much does it cost?

• From Rp10,000 for 10 pieces (detikBali, June 2026).
• Boxes at Rp10,000, Rp15,000 and Rp20,000; special orders of 100 pieces Rp70,000 (detikBali, 2023).
• Other Balinese sweets such as kue talam, dadar, onde-onde, pasung and bantal from around Rp2,000 (IDN Times, 2023).

Opening hours and ordering?

detikBali (June 2026) lists 06:00-19:00, while IDN Times (2023) wrote 06:00-18:00, so don't turn up too late in the evening. Nothing is kept in stock; they cook as they sell. Buyers wanting large amounts usually order the day before, or order in the morning and collect in the afternoon.

What are the downsides?

The stall is basic with no tables or chairs, so you take the klepon away or eat in the car. They keep only about 10 hours because the grated coconut spoils quickly, so they are no good as a souvenir to take off the island. The sugar also squirts easily; put each one in your mouth whole.
