How Much Is Scooter Rental per Day in Bali in 2026?

Renting a Honda Scoopy or Beat in Bali generally costs IDR 65,000-100,000 a day, a Vario 160 about IDR 110,000-150,000, and a Yamaha NMax IDR 115,000-200,000, based on price lists posted by rental shops in Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu, checked October 2026. Weekly and monthly rentals are much cheaper per day: a Scoopy for a month runs about IDR 1.2-1.8 million. There is no official government rate; these are market ranges, so compare and negotiate.

Our sources: price lists on the websites of Antara Rental Bali (Canggu), Billy Motor Bali Rental, sewamotorbali.co.id, King Rental Bali and Gotravela, plus the Bali Holiday Secrets guide updated 1 October 2026. Some rental pages show no update date, so treat the figures below as benchmarks, not promises.

Prices by scooter

  • Scoopy / Beat 110cc: IDR 65,000-100,000 a day, 400,000-650,000 a week, 1.2-1.8 million a month. Light, fine for one rider around town.
  • Vario 125/150: IDR 70,000-100,000 a day, about 500,000 a week, about 1.8 million a month. Roomier seat for two.
  • Vario 160: IDR 110,000-150,000 a day, 650,000-900,000 a week, 1.9-2.5 million a month.
  • NMax / PCX 155-160cc: IDR 115,000-200,000 a day, 650,000-1.2 million a week, 1.7-3 million a month. The most comfortable for long rides and hills, such as Kintamani or Bedugul.

New models (keyless, ABS) sit at the top of each range. Bikes from 2016-2019 sit at the bottom, and that's where you need to check brakes and tyres more carefully.

Why is a monthly rental so much cheaper?

Many shops use tiered pricing. King Rental Bali's Vario 160 is an example: IDR 125,000 a day for 1-4 days, dropping to 85,000 for 16-25 days and 80,000 for 26-30 days. A full month comes to about IDR 2.4 million, against 3.75 million at the daily rate. If you're staying three weeks or more, ask for the monthly price even if it isn't a full 30 days; it is often cheaper than three weekly rates.

Prices by area

  • Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Canggu: the most choice and the most competition, so the ranges above apply here. Some shops deliver free to hotels in these areas and include two helmets and a raincoat.
  • Ubud: about IDR 50,000-150,000 a day according to VRMTrans. There are plenty of small shops on Jalan Monkey Forest and Hanoman, but a 110cc bike feels weak on the climb to Tegallalang with a passenger.
  • Uluwatu and the Bukit: we found no area-specific price list. Many Kuta and Jimbaran shops deliver there; ask about the delivery fee before agreeing.
  • Nusa Penida: about IDR 100,000-200,000 a day according to nusapenida.org, while detikBali quotes prices from IDR 60,000. The roads to Kelingking and Diamond Beach are steep and partly broken, so good brakes matter more than saving IDR 20,000.
  • Roadside stall vs app: Bali Holiday Secrets puts roadside stalls at about AUD 5-10 a day for a Scoopy/Vario, while online platforms that deliver the bike and offer theft insurance can cost double. Pricier isn't always better, but insurance with a clear underwriter has a cost.

If you're planning a month in Canggu or Ubud, the savings on a monthly bike pair well with cutting your room costs; an AccessiaPass long-stay hotel voucher is one way to trim that bigger line.

Extra costs people forget

  • Fuel: Pertalite IDR 10,000 a litre and Pertamax IDR 15,950 a litre at Bali petrol stations (October 2026). A Scoopy tank holds about 4 litres, so a fill-up is under IDR 45,000. Bottled fuel from roadside stalls costs more per litre. Roadside rentals are often handed over nearly empty; photograph the fuel gauge at handover.
  • Parking: usually IDR 2,000-5,000 per stop at beaches, markets and attractions. Details in our Bali parking fees article.
  • Second helmet and raincoat: often included, but ask. A passenger helmet that's too big is as good as none.
  • Delivery and pickup: free within a set radius at many shops, charged for distant areas.
  • Damage and loss: ask before signing. Small shops usually hold the renter liable for the full cost if the bike is stolen or damaged.
  • Traffic fines: riding without a valid licence can cost up to IDR 1 million, no helmet up to IDR 250,000 under Law 22/2009. One ticket can equal a week's rental; see our Bali traffic ticket article.

Worked example: a week in Canggu on a Vario

  • Weekly Vario 125 rental: about IDR 500,000.
  • Fuel: 30 km a day at roughly 40-50 km per litre for a 110-125cc scooter is about 5 litres a week, around IDR 50,000 of Pertalite.
  • Parking: two or three stops a day, about IDR 40,000-100,000 a week.
  • Total: about IDR 600,000-650,000, under IDR 100,000 a day.

For comparison, if you take only two ride-hailing bike trips a day at, say, IDR 25,000 each (an illustrative figure; check the app), that's about IDR 350,000 a week. The scooter only wins if you go out more often or explore beyond your area.

Deposit: don't hand over your passport

Some shops ask for your original passport as security. Politely refuse. Bali.com and many travel guides say a passport copy, your hotel address, or a cash deposit written on a receipt is enough. You need your passport for hotel check-in and money changers, police may ask to see it, and a shop holding it has a lot of leverage in any dispute over scratches. Also ask for the bike's registration (STNK) and check the number matches the plate.

Licence: the cost not on the price list

Shops rarely ask for a licence, but police do. Foreign visitors need an International Driving Permit (IDP) that covers motorcycles plus their home licence. Without them, many travel insurers reject scooter accident claims. Documents, police checks and alternatives are covered in our Bali scooter rental and riding rules 2026.

Daily, weekly or monthly?

  • 1-3 days: compare with Grab or Gojek first. For two or three short trips a day, ride-hailing is often cheaper once fuel and parking are added.
  • 5-14 days: take a weekly package and extend by the day if needed.
  • Three weeks or more: negotiate a monthly rate from the start. The difference can exceed IDR 1 million.

Before riding off, film a 30-second walk-around of the bike, including the odometer, tyres and existing scratches, and send it to the owner on WhatsApp. That timestamped proof is what most often saves your deposit when you return the bike.
