How Much Is Parking in Bali? Scooter, Car and Airport Rates 2026

Roadside scooter parking in Denpasar and Badung officially costs Rp2,000 per stop (about US$0.12). Cars pay Rp3,000 in Denpasar and Rp4,000 in Badung. At Ngurah Rai airport a scooter pays Rp5,000 for the first 12 hours and a car Rp12,000 for the first hour. Every figure below was checked in October 2026 against local regulations and operator statements quoted in the Balinese press.

What are the official roadside rates?

  • Denpasar: scooter Rp2,000, car Rp3,000, box van Rp8,000, bus or truck Rp30,000 per stop. The legal basis is Denpasar Mayor Regulation No. 64 of 2023, in force since 1 May 2024. Parking is run by the city company Perumda Bhukti Praja Sewakadarma (PD Parkir).
  • Badung (Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Canggu, Jimbaran, Nusa Dua, Uluwatu): scooter Rp2,000, three-wheeler Rp3,000, car Rp4,000 per stop, valid up to 24 hours. Microbuses and box vans Rp5,000, large buses Rp10,000. The basis is Badung Regional Regulation No. 8 of 2025 (amending Regulation No. 7 of 2023), in force since January 2026. Before that, scooters paid Rp1,000 and cars Rp2,000.
  • Other regencies (Gianyar, Tabanan, Bangli, Buleleng, Karangasem): each has its own rules and many lots are run by the customary village. We could not find a current official figure to quote, so the number printed on your ticket is the safest reference.

One common source of confusion: in Badung, roadside and designated lots are run under agreements with customary villages, banjar, village enterprises or tourism groups. An attendant in a village uniform can therefore be perfectly legitimate. Malls are different again: they charge by the hour under a parking tax, not the flat municipal fee.

What do tourist attractions charge?

Sites run by villages or management boards set their own rates. A verified example: Tanah Lot charges Rp3,000 for scooters, Rp5,000 for cars and Rp10,000 for buses. A rise to Rp4,000 and Rp10,000 planned for April 2026 was postponed, the management told detikBali on 29 March 2026, so expect a change once the postponement ends. Parking at Kuta Beach is run by the Kuta customary village and accepts cash or cashless payment.

At smaller sites the ticket is often a torn slip printed by the village. As long as you get a ticket and the amount is sensible, it is not a scam.

How much is parking at Ngurah Rai airport?

  • Scooter: Rp5,000 for the first 12 hours, then progressive increments of Rp3,000.
  • Car: Rp12,000 for the first hour, then Rp6,000 per additional hour.
  • Buses and six-wheelers: Rp16,000 for the first hour, then Rp6,000 per hour.
  • Premium parking: an extra Rp40,000 per entry on top of the regular rate. The Novotel premium area adds Rp60,000.
  • Lost ticket: Rp50,000 fine for scooters, Rp100,000 for cars.

These figures come from the airport general manager's announcement of the rates in force since 23 September 2024, and we found no later change. Some 2026 travel sites list a lower car increment (Rp4,000 per hour), so check the board at the gate. Waiting three hours for a delayed arrival by car works out at about Rp24,000. The minimarket says "free parking", so why is there an attendant?

Many minimarkets in Bali have an attendant appointed by the banjar or village, so a Rp2,000 fee still applies. In Denpasar, PD Parkir has declared some free-parking zones, including Indomaret on Jalan Merdeka, Alfamart Bajra Sandhi in Renon and Circle K Renon. Since 18 September 2026 it has also been putting up "Zona Gratis Parkir pada UMKM" (free parking for small businesses) banners at a number of shops. Where such an official banner is posted you do not have to pay. Without it, Rp2,000 for a scooter is a fair rate.

Before you park: five things people miss

  • Ask for the ticket when you arrive, not when you leave. On 10 September 2026 the Mayor of Denpasar stressed that tickets must be issued on entry, because the ticket is your proof for a claim if the vehicle is stolen.
  • Check the year printed on the ticket. In a May 2026 inspection PD Parkir caught attendants still using 2025 tickets and one who was not registered at all.
  • Carry Rp2,000 and Rp5,000 notes. Attendants often have "no change".
  • A Rp5,000 scooter fee is normally only for event parking. In May 2025 an attendant used Rp5,000 event tickets away from the event on Jalan Diponegoro and received a formal warning.
  • Do not park on the pavement or under a no-parking sign. Denpasar is pulling parking services off sidewalks, and careless parking can end in a traffic ticket or a wheel clamp.

What if you are asked for more?

Ask politely "karcisnya berapa, Pak?" (how much is the ticket?) and pay what is printed. If the attendant cannot give a ticket or wears no uniform, take a photo of the spot and the vest. In Denpasar the PD Parkir WhatsApp complaint number is printed on the back of official attendants' vests, and complaints can also go through the Pro Denpasar app. Elsewhere, report to the regency transport office (Dinas Perhubungan). A Rp3,000 difference is rarely worth an argument on the spot. A report afterwards works better.

If you rent a scooter, ask the rental whether it comes with a disc lock or a spare key. Licence and helmet rules are covered in renting and riding a scooter in Bali.
