Bali Coast Trail 2026 in Candidasa: Dates, Fees and Entry Rules

Bali Coast Trail 2026 runs on 12-13 December 2026, starting and finishing at Rest Area Candi Dasa in Karangasem. There are four categories, from a 7 km beginner race to a 50 km ultra, priced from IDR 490k to IDR 1.09 million. As of 6 October 2026 registration has not opened; the official site balicoasttrail.com still says "soon".

Schedule and fees by category

• BCT50K: Saturday 12 December, start 4am WITA, 2,350 m of climbing, 15-hour cut-off. Locals IDR 990k, foreigners IDR 1.09 million.
• BCT30K: 12 December, start 5am, 1,438 m, 10-hour cut-off. IDR 790k / IDR 890k.
• BCT15K: Sunday 13 December, start 5am, 780 m, 6-hour cut-off. IDR 690k / IDR 790k.
• BCT7K (family friendly): 13 December, start 5:30am, 340 m, 3-hour cut-off. IDR 490k / IDR 590k.

Fees include the area entrance charges along the course (foreigners IDR 100k per day, Indonesians IDR 25k per day), but only for the runner. An IDR 50k discount applies on 8-10 October 2026 for the first 250 transactions paid by BCA Virtual Account or BCA credit card.

What people miss before signing up

• Qualification. The 50K requires an official marathon finish, BTR Ultra 30K, or a trail race of at least 30 km in the past two years. The 30K requires a half marathon or a trail race of at least 15 km. Proof is checked via Strava.
• No refunds. Tickets can only be transferred to someone else for an IDR 200k admin fee; the deadline has not been announced.
• The mandatory gear list is not out yet. Organisers say random checks happen before the start and after the finish. With a 4am start, pack a headlamp from the outset.
• No pacers. Friends may not run alongside you, and food at the aid stations is for racers only.

Getting to Candidasa and where to sleep

Candidasa is about 70-75 km from Ngurah Rai Airport, usually 2-2.5 hours via the Ida Bagus Mantra Bypass, longer at weekends. With the earliest start at 4am, driving in from Kuta or Seminyak on race morning is not realistic. The official site has an accommodation page for places near the venue, but it has no listings yet. Downsides to plan for

December is rainy season. Dirt and sand trails can get slippery, and the organisers themselves say runners must cope with heat, strong wind and rain. The east coast stays humid even at dawn. The course passes villages, beaches and temples, so you share the path with locals and should give way if you meet a ceremony. For spectators, no special programme has been announced; the start and finish at the rest area are the only sure things to watch.

New to trail running? The 7K makes the most sense: 340 m of climbing and a three-hour cut-off. If you prefer tarmac, the Ubud Running Festival on 21-22 November 2026 falls three weeks earlier.
