There is no single official closing time for every bar and club in Bali. Hours are set by each venue's licence and local agreements, so they vary widely by area: Canggu's beach clubs usually wind down between midnight and 1am, while clubs on Jalan Legian in Kuta stay open until 4 or 5am. Everything below was checked in October 2026.
Is there a regulation that sets closing time?
We found no publicly available Badung regency regulation, regent's decree or Denpasar mayoral regulation that sets one uniform closing time for nightlife as of 2026. What actually applies on the ground comes from three places:
- Each venue's business licence, which states its business type and operating hours.
- Agreements with Satpol PP (civil service police). In September 2022, after a residents' petition about noise gathered nearly 8,000 signatures, Bali's Satpol PP and nightlife operators in Canggu and Berawa (including Finns Beach Club) agreed on a 70-decibel cap for outdoor music and a 1am latest closing time (reported by detikBali, 15 September 2022).
- Perarem, customary village rules. Desa Adat Canggu, for example, limits loud music to 11pm near homes and midnight for venues further from residents. Its village head acknowledged that the customary village can only appeal and patrol, not impose penalties.
So don't be surprised if two venues in different areas close four hours apart.
What time do well-known venues close?
From each venue's official website, checked October 2026:
- Sky Garden, Jl. Legian No. 60, Kuta: open 9pm to 5am. Floors and dress code are in our Sky Garden review.
- La Favela, Jl. Laksamana Oberoi, Seminyak: restaurant 7pm to 11pm, then the third-floor Attika opens Thursday to Saturday from 10pm until late.
- Finns Beach Club, Berawa, Canggu: 11am until midnight daily.
The pattern: Canggu and Berawa finish earlier because they sit next to residential areas and are bound by the 2022 agreement, Seminyak sits in the middle, and Kuta-Legian runs latest. Hours on third-party directories often differ from official sites, so check the venue's Instagram on the day.
What changes at Nyepi and on holidays?
On Nyepi every bar, club and beach club closes completely for 24 hours, from 6am on Nyepi day to 6am the next morning. The airport closes too, roads and beaches are empty, and guests must stay inside their hotel. The next Nyepi falls in March 2027.
For New Year's Eve 2026, police in Denpasar banned fireworks and music concerts in Denpasar and southern Badung, following a directive from the National Police Chief (detikBali, 26 December 2025). That ban applied to that period only; rules for the end of 2026 had not been announced as of early October 2026.
Are there raids?
Yes, but they usually concern business licences, crowd permits, drugs or immigration documents rather than simply staying open late. Over Christmas and New Year, police and the Badung and Denpasar Satpol PP run joint patrols. Carry your passport or a copy; the minimum age for clubs and how ID is checked are in our article on the drinking and clubbing age in Bali.
Can you party with loud music at a villa?
In practice, not past quiet hours. Almost every rental villa lists quiet hours in its house rules, often from 10pm or 11pm, and owners can end your stay if you break them. On top of that come village perarem like Canggu's. If neighbours complain, the first to arrive is usually the pecalang (customary village security) or the banjar head, and repeated complaints can reach the police. Villas in Canggu, Pererenan and Uluwatu increasingly sit wall to wall with local homes, so a portable speaker by the pool carries further than you think.
If you want a long night that doesn't hit a closing time, plan the order: sunset at a Canggu beach club, dinner in Seminyak, then move to Legian after midnight.
