Engine Room Bali at Jl. Legian No. 66 opens every night from 8pm to 4am and entry is free, according to its official website (checked October 2026). The club has been running since 2008, is now operated by Double Six Group, and packs four bars into one building. These are the seven things that most often catch first-timers off guard.
1. Entry is free, but your age is checked
The promo and event terms on the official site say "guests aged 21+". Bring your passport or a clear photo of it. The legal background is covered in our article on the minimum drinking and clubbing age in Bali.
2. It only fills up after midnight
The club's own site says weekends "pack out by midnight". Arrive between 9pm and 10:30pm if you want a table without the crush; arrive around 1am if a packed dance floor is the whole point.
3. Drink prices from the official menu
- Draft beer, Singaraja, Guinness: IDR 60k; Heineken and Bintang Radler IDR 70k
- Beer towers: Singaraja IDR 275k, Bintang IDR 325k
- Signature cocktails IDR 125-135k; Long Island or Zombie pitchers IDR 190k
- Spirits IDR 110k a glass, premium (Chivas, Jameson, Jack Daniel's) IDR 145k
- Promo bottles with mixers (Gordon's, Smirnoff, Captain Morgan): IDR 1.5 million
- Wine IDR 110k a glass or IDR 550k a bottle; soft drinks IDR 30k
The menu does not say whether tax and service are included, so ask before you open a tab.
4. The shooter deals are strong
There is a "buy 1 get 4" shooter deal at IDR 125k and a buy-one-get-one cocktail promo around midnight. Cheap per glass, fast in effect. Order straight from the bartender, never leave your glass unattended, and drink water in between.
5. There is no written dress code
The official site lists no dress rules. Third-party guides suggest smart casual and no beachwear. Closed shoes are the safest bet because the floor is often wet and crowded.
6. The music is mixed, not a techno club
Resident DJs play R&B, hip hop, top 40, EDM and tech house. It is a poor fit if you want to talk or are after serious craft cocktails: the menu is mostly sweet vodka-based drinks. For comparison, Sky Garden on the same street runs a similar multi-floor format.
7. Getting home is the hard part
Jl. Legian stays jammed until the early hours, and drivers touting rides outside the club usually quote a flat fare. Book Grab or Gojek and set the pickup point in a side lane. Staying within walking distance in Legian makes this much easier; you can check hotel vouchers for the Kuta-Legian area on AccessiaPass.
