Mana Uluwatu: Poolside Sunsets and Friday Parties Above Suluban

Mana Uluwatu is open daily from 7am to 11pm inside Uluwatu Surf Villas on Jl. Pantai Suluban, right above the Uluwatu break, and Friday from 5pm is its busiest night. Cocktails cost IDR 150,000-230,000 and a Bintang IDR 55,000, before 11% tax and 10% service (official menu uploaded March 2026, checked October 2026).

What it feels like

By day Mana works like a poolside cafe: an infinity pool, timber cabanas and surfers climbing back up from Suluban. Seats facing the ocean fill quickly towards sunset. There are two areas with separate menus, a more formal dining room upstairs and a casual poolside zone. Honeycombers (August 2026) names Friday from 5pm as the main party night. The official site does not list DJ or band line-ups, so check Instagram in the week you visit.

What you will spend

• Signature cocktails: Spiced Mango, Lychee Gimlet and Kaffir Caipiroska IDR 150,000; Mana Margarita and Mana Negroni IDR 180,000; Coconut Espresso Martini IDR 210,000; Island Margarita IDR 230,000.
• Beer: bottled Bintang IDR 55,000, Island Brewing on draft IDR 90,000-120,000, Black Sand Lager stubby IDR 70,000.
• A pitcher of sangria is IDR 650,000 and serves 3-4 people.
• Poolside food: burgers IDR 125,000-175,000, pizzas IDR 125,000-210,000.

Two people having two cocktails each and sharing a pizza will spend about IDR 1 million (roughly US$60) after tax and service.

Know before you go

• Seating: poolside loungers and shade huts are first come, first served, and some carry a minimum spend. The amount is not published, so ask when you book.
• Dress code: beach casual, nothing written down. Bring a change of clothes if you plan to swim and then eat upstairs.
• Age: Mana is family friendly (kids' menu IDR 65,000-100,000), but alcohol is for 21 and over. See the legal drinking age in Bali and carry ID.

Honest verdict

Mana's strengths are the wave view and drink prices that stay reasonable for an Uluwatu clifftop. The downsides: weekend afternoons are packed with families and children, so it is not the place for a quiet afternoon. Friday nights are crowded too, and the ocean-facing seats are usually gone if you arrive after 5.30pm. The road up to the cliff is narrow, steep and poorly lit, so do not ride a scooter home after drinking; book a ride-hailing car before the party winds down. Arrive around 5pm. In October the sun sets in Bali at about 6.05pm, and the hour before is the best time to claim a seat on the pool edge.
