At around 450 metres above sea level on the southern slopes of Mount Batukaru, Bali Eco Stay occupies a narrow valley in Banjar Kanciana, Kemetug, Gunung Salak village, Selemadeg Timur district, Tabanan. This is more than a green-themed hotel: most of its electricity comes from a micro-hydro turbine in the river below the bungalows, the tap water arrives straight from a mountain spring, and the kitchen harvests from its own permaculture gardens. There is also a private waterfall that only guests can reach.

Micro-hydro, Spring Water and a Private Waterfall
- Power: a micro-hydro turbine in the river supplies roughly 70 percent of the resort's energy; only the refrigeration systems still rely on backup sources.
- Water: Batukaru spring water flows straight to the taps and is safe to drink, so guests need no plastic bottles.
- Waterfall: guests can swim in the clear river or book a picnic at the resort's own waterfall.
- Activities: rice-field and jungle trekking, yoga and meditation in the shala, Balinese massage in an open-air bale, craft workshops, and day tours to the waterfalls of the north.
- Dining: a farm to table restaurant using produce from the gardens; dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.
Access and Arrival Tips
- From Ubud: about 1.5–2 hours by car through the Tabanan highlands.
- From Kuta and Ngurah Rai Airport: roughly 2 hours; airport transfers start at around Rp500,000.
- The final stretch is narrow and hard for unfamiliar drivers to find — the resort recommends arranging a pickup or using the specific map links they send you.
- Best arrival time: before dark, as the village lanes are unlit. It is far cooler here than on the coast, so pack a warm layer.
