Hiliwatu Bali Ubud: Marriott's New Resort in Bresela, Payangan

Hiliwatu, Bali Ubud, a Tribute Portfolio Resort is a 38-key Marriott resort that officially opened on 15 January 2026 in Bresela village, Payangan, about 12 km north of Ubud Palace. It has 24 suites and 14 villas with heated private pools, and a sample suite rate seen on Expedia for June 2026 was AU$435 a night including tax.

Rooms and facilities

Marriott's press release (16 January 2026) and What's New Indonesia (20 January 2026) give the mix: 24 suites, 12 one-bedroom villas, one three-bedroom villa and one four-bedroom villa on 26,000 m² of land. The 15 January 2026 opening date comes from DestinAsian Indonesia.

• Suites are in the main building, with private balconies, walk-in showers and a wooden bathtub (NOW! Bali, 26 January 2026). Expedia lists a 60 m² Panoramic Suite with valley views, one king bed, sleeping up to 3.
• Villas step down the valley slope, each with a heated private pool.
• Food and drink: Omber (fire-led grill and steakhouse), Tapis (Balinese cooking with local produce), Nira (bar and lounge by the main pool, 20 metres above the valley) and a pool bar facing the rice fields.
• Other: Samya Wellness (mineral rituals, crystal meditation, open-air yoga), a 24-hour gym, a 24-metre-high lobby with tiered pools, a helipad and The Pavilion, an open-air chapel for weddings.

What it costs

Official rates are dynamic on marriott.com, and the site refused access when we checked on 28 October 2026. Examples from Expedia: AU$435 including tax for 17-18 June 2026 (Expedia Australia), and ₩400,303 before tax or ₩484,367 after tax for 1-2 September 2026 (Expedia Korea). Treat these as a guide, not a fixed price.

Extra charges listed on Expedia: a rollaway bed at Rp1,250,000 a night, and breakfast charged separately when it is not in the rate. Check for "breakfast included" before paying. If you would rather compare with other Ubud resorts at a locked-in price, look at hotel vouchers on AccessiaPass.

Drawbacks to weigh

• Far from central Ubud. OpenStreetMap routing puts it about 12 km from Ubud Palace (25-40 minutes on village roads, depending on traffic) and about 50 km from the airport (usually 1.5-2 hours). You cannot walk to cafes or the market; you will need a driver or ride-hailing.
• Few reviews yet. Perfect OTA scores come from a small number of guests because the resort only began operating in 2026.
• Built in tiers down the valley. Guests with limited mobility should ask about access to villas and restaurants before booking.
• Do not confuse it with JW Marriott Bali Ubud in Payangan, a different property whose opening was still unconfirmed as of October 2026.
