Mimpi Resort Menjangan: Villas with Private Hot Spring Pools

Mimpi Resort Menjangan sells its Menjangan Staycation package for IDR 2.4 million for three days and two nights, including breakfast for two, one kayak session and one 60-minute Balinese massage (per its official offers page, checked September 2026). The 5.5-hectare resort sits on a natural hot spring at Banyuwedang, Pejarakan, in Gerokgak district, Buleleng, and that spring is the main reason to stay.

Where the hot water is

Three hot spring pools are open to all guests. The Courtyard Villa, Courtyard Villa with Pool and Grand Courtyard Villa each have a private hot spring pool in their courtyard, and the last two add a regular swimming pool. According to the official site, the water contains sodium chloride, calcium and sulphate. Standard Patio Rooms have no private pool, so those guests use the shared ones. If your reason for coming is to soak whenever you like without company, book a villa.

The spring shares its source area with the public baths we covered in Banyuwedang Hot Springs. The difference here is that you soak in a private pool or a quieter guest pool.

Spa and activities

Mimpi Spring Spa has treatment rooms with patios facing the mangrove forest. The menu covers Balinese, aromatherapy and reflexology massage, the Esalen-style Mimpi Art Movement, a sandalwood lulur, a green tea scrub and body wraps. Spa prices aren't published online, and some guest reviews find them higher than elsewhere in Bali, so ask for the price list by email before you go.

The resort runs a PADI dive centre for trips to Menjangan Island, plus kayaking (60 minutes free with villa bookings), yoga, temple tours and craft workshops. A Discover Scuba 3D2N package costs IDR 5.7 million for a Patio Room for two.

What to weigh up

• It's far. The drive from Ngurah Rai Airport to Banyuwedang usually takes around 4 hours. A 24-hour airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
• Not a white-sand beach. The resort faces a mangrove-lined bay. For good swimming and snorkelling, most guests take a boat to Menjangan.
• Some ageing. Guest reviews regularly praise the gardens and staff, but some say rooms need an update and breakfast gets repetitive after three nights.
