Maya Sanur Resort & Spa vs Hyatt Regency Bali: Which One Suits You?

Maya Sanur Resort & Spa has 103 rooms and suites, the smallest of them 57 m², set right on Sanur Beach at Jl. Danau Tamblingan 89M. Its nearest comparison, Hyatt Regency Bali, is far bigger: 373 rooms on nine hectares of gardens according to Hyatt's official site. Both share the same beach, but they suit different guests.

Rooms at Maya Sanur

• Wonderful Garden View and Wonderful Pool Access (57 m²): king or two double beds, connecting rooms available; the Pool Access type has a terrace stepping straight into the pool.
• Impressive Nest Suite (61 m²): the most common type (52 units per the official May 2025 factsheet), with a nest-shaped daybed on a balcony facing the garden and Lagoon Pool.
• Impressive Lagoon Pool Suite (61 m²): a glass wall opening directly onto the Lagoon Pool, plus butler service.
• Heavenly Pool Suite (122 m²) and Heavenly Ocean View Pool Suite (108 m²): a heated 22 m² private pool, 1.2 m deep, and a butler, with only four units of each.

Other facilities from the official site and factsheet: an Infinity Beach Pool facing the sea, Spa at Maya with six couple suites, beginner sunrise yoga, and the Cheeky Monkeys kids club on the fourth floor for ages 4-12 (8:30am-4:30pm). There are four places to eat: Mayasari for breakfast with floating gazebos, the three-level Tree Bar on the beach (7am-10pm), Kuu Japanese izakaya on the street side (11am-10pm) and the Rue café (7am-10pm).

Maya or Hyatt Regency: where they differ

Hyatt Regency Bali is a classic garden resort: buildings spread across large grounds, children have plenty of room to run, and there are far more rooms to choose from. Maya is more compact and more vertical, its entry-level room is already 57 m², and life centres on the Lagoon Pool and the Infinity Beach Pool. If you judge a hotel by room size and newer design, Maya wins. If you want wide green lawns for morning walks with a big family, Hyatt makes more sense.

Good for

• Couples who want a large room with pool access without paying villa prices.
• Families with children aged 4-12 who need a kids club and connecting rooms.
• Early risers: Sanur faces east, so sunrise is visible from the edge of the Infinity Beach Pool.

Less suited to

• Guests who want a sea-view room: only the four Heavenly Ocean View Pool Suites are billed as ocean view, and most rooms face the garden or lagoon.
• Guests who want to swim in the sea at any time. At low tide the water off Sanur Beach is shallow and reefy, so the pools do most of the work.
• Anyone after big gardens and an old-school resort feel; that is Hyatt's strength.
• Anyone who wants to see prices before picking dates. The official site shows no rates; they only appear in the booking engine once dates are chosen (checked September 2026).
