Bandung Waterfall Gianyar: Rp20,000 Entry, Is It Worth a Stop?

Entry to Bandung Waterfall in Banjar Bandung, Siangan village, Gianyar district, costs Rp20,000 per person and it is open 08.00-18.00 WITA, according to detikBali (27 November 2025). The name has nothing to do with Bandung in West Java; "Bandung" is simply the hamlet (banjar) where the waterfall sits. It drops about 10 metres below an old dam and forms a natural pool.

What Rp20,000 gets you

The path down is short and, per detikBali, in decent shape, so there is no long trek like at many Bangli waterfalls. At the bottom there is a pool for soaking. Budayabali (August 2024) says visitors also jump from a ledge near the pool. That is not an official, supervised activity, and detikBali itself advises checking the pool's depth before getting in.

The second draw is the dam above. Budayabali calls it a 17th-century former Dutch dam. That date is doubtful: Gianyar only came under Dutch protection around 1900. Think of it as a colonial-era dam and enjoy the structure without worrying about the year.

The downsides

  • Basic facilities. detikBali suggests bringing your own snacks; do not expect the row of cafés you find at Tegenungan.
  • Slippery. The path and the rocks around the pool are slick, especially after rain. Not ideal for older visitors or small children who cannot swim.
  • Small. At around 10 metres high, it is not worth a special trip from Canggu or Uluwatu.
  • Little recent information. The latest price evidence we found dates from November 2025, and even the photo in the detikBali article came from a Google review. The gate price may have changed.

Our verdict

Worth a 45-60 minute stop if you are already in Gianyar town, Pejeng or Bedulu, for example after seeing Pura Kebo Edan. Not worth building a day trip around. Come in the morning when the weather is clear, and bring a change of clothes.

On fuel: in mid-October 2026 detikBali reported Gianyar residents driving to as many as 10 petrol stations to find fuel. If you rent a scooter, fill up in Denpasar or Ubud first.
