Before You Go to AfterTea Seminyak: Tea-Tail Prices, Hours, Rules

AfterTea at Jl. Kayu Cendana No. 1, Seminyak, is a Japanese-tea cocktail bar from CHONTEA & Co, where one à la carte "tea-tail" costs IDR 180,000-200,000 before 10% tax and 5% service. The official site, chonteaco.com (checked 27 October 2026), says the bar opens daily from 6pm until late.

Prices come from the official menu linked on that site, the "Summer Autumn 2025" edition. As of our October 2026 check it is still the file posted, so seasonal drinks may have changed. NOW! Bali (29 January 2026) lists AfterTea among Seminyak's best cocktail bars. Here is what to know before you go.

1. It is a slow bar, not a party spot

Light-wood Japanese minimalism, limited seats, quiet music. The official FAQ says plainly that, as a slow bar, it cannot guarantee fast service. Good for two or three people who want to talk; less suited to a group that wants a quick round before a club.

2. Prices from the official menu

• À la carte tea-tails: Sencha Tea-Tail and Teapresso Martini IDR 180,000, Hojicha Tea-Tail IDR 190,000, matcha, genmaicha, pu-erh, oolong, Whiskey Sour and Grasshopper IDR 200,000.
• Teagroni Flight (three tea-based Negronis): IDR 500,000, or IDR 200,000 per glass.
• Omakase (the bartender mixes to your taste): IDR 250,000.
• Discovery Journey: 5 cocktails IDR 800,000, 6 cocktails IDR 1,000,000. The Gyokuro Path IDR 600,000.
• 10% tax and 5% service, plus 2% for credit cards. A IDR 200,000 drink becomes about IDR 230,000 (roughly US$14) paid in cash.

3. Real downsides

• Pricey for Seminyak: two drinks each already runs about IDR 460,000 per person.
• House rule on the menu: broken glasses are charged. The glassware is thin, so handle it carefully.
• Hours differ: the official site says 6pm until late, NOW! Bali says 2pm until late (by day the same space runs as the CHONTEA & Co Seminyak tea house, 9am-6pm).
• No dress code or age limit has been published.

4. Booking

The official FAQ recommends booking because seating is limited; walk-ins are seated when space allows. Use the chonteaco.com contact page or Instagram @chontea.co, and search for AfterTea on Instagram for the latest seasonal menu.

5. One safety tip specific to this bar

Almost every drink here contains matcha, hojicha or coffee. Caffeine can make you feel less drunk than you are, so count your glasses and do not ride a scooter home; book a ride-hailing car from outside Seminyak Village.
