Sarinbuana Eco Lodge is a small family-owned retreat in Banjar Biyahan, Wanagiri Kauh village, Selemadeg Timur district, Tabanan Regency. It sits at around 700 metres above sea level on the slopes of Mount Batukaru, directly bordering protected rainforest. With only six bungalows and a maximum of around sixteen guests at a time, it feels less like a resort and more like staying at a family’s garden home.
Wooden Bungalows and a Permaculture Garden
- Six timber-and-bamboo bungalows with terraces facing the garden and forest; a separate cabin offers even deeper seclusion at the edge of the Batukaru jungle.
- A chemical-free natural swimming pool and a wood-fired sauna fuelled by prunings from the coffee orchard.
- The organic permaculture garden supplies vegetables, herbs, cacao and coffee to the kitchen.
Food and Activities
- A farm-to-table restaurant serving Balinese dishes plus vegetarian, vegan and fish options; much of the produce is picked that same morning.
- Guided rainforest treks, birdwatching walks (over 130 species recorded around the property), and river and natural pool explorations.
- Balinese cooking classes, craft workshops, yoga and meditation, and massage.
- Conservation commitments: reduced light pollution, waste management, and partnerships with the surrounding village.
Access, Costs and Best Time
- About a 2-hour drive from Ngurah Rai Airport, and roughly 1.5 hours from Ubud, Canggu or Seminyak.
- The final kilometres are narrow, climbing village roads; a normal car can manage, but avoid driving after dark.
- Ride-hailing usually works on arrival but is often unavailable for the return trip — arrange your onward transport through the lodge.
- Room rates run roughly Rp 1.3–2.8 million per night as an estimate, depending on bungalow type and season; confirm current pricing before you book.
- The air is cool and often misty: bring a light jacket, rain gear, trekking shoes and insect repellent. The dry season from April to October is best for forest walks.
