Pantai Sekeh (Sekeh Beach) sits on the north side of the Ngurah Rai Airport runway in Tuban, Kuta, and neither source we checked mentions an entry fee. People come for one thing: sitting on the sand at sunset while planes take off and land at the western end of the runway.
detikBali covered the beach on Sunday 20 September 2026 and found a decent afternoon crowd, though calmer than Bali's famous beaches. It borders Pantai Jerman (German Beach) to the north, and Kuta Beach is close by. Details below were checked on 3 November 2026.
What to do at Sekeh Beach
- Sunset and plane spotting. budayabali.com (Deniel Triananda, 2024) says the runway is visible on the left side of the beach, engine noise included, and a natural stone path along the shore works as seating.
- Fishing. According to detikBali, locals bring rods and pick spots along the water's edge.
- Evening jogs and football. The sand is used for light exercise, mostly by Tuban residents.
If you want planes plus grilled fish, Pantai Kelan on the south side of the runway is the better pick, with a row of seafood warungs. Sekeh suits a quiet sit without spending money.
The downsides
- A visitor review on Thatch calls it "a bit of a dirty beach". From November the west coast of Badung also gets rainy-season washed-up rubbish, so the sand may look very different from dry-season photos.
- Facilities are unclear. Some tour-agency sites list toilets, gazebos and food stalls, but detikBali does not mention them. Bring your own water.
- Noise. Jet engines at close range can be a lot for small children or noise-sensitive visitors.
- No lifeguard information. Neither source discusses swimming, so treat this as a beach for sitting and fishing, not swimming.
Getting there and airport rules
- Location: View on Google Maps. The easiest reference point is Pantai Jerman in Tuban; head south toward the runway fence. Check the Maps pin before you go.
- Entry and parking: no source mentions a ticket, and no parking rate is published; keep small notes for the parking attendant.
- Best time: from about 17:00 until sunset (around 18:20 WITA in early November).
- Rules: no kites, drones or sky lanterns here, as the area is an aviation safety zone. The legal basis is in our article on kites and lanterns near the airport.
- Instagram: there is no official account; see recent photos via Instagram search.
The beach is a handy way to fill an afternoon before a night flight. If you need a transit room, our guide to hotels near the airport in Tuban, Kuta and Jimbaran is a good start, and AccessiaPass has stay vouchers in the Tuban area.
FAQ
Is Sekeh Beach the same as Kelan Beach?
No. Sekeh is north of the runway, next to German Beach; Kelan is south of the runway near Jimbaran.
How far is it from the terminal?
Tour sites put it at about 3 km. Afternoon traffic in Tuban is often heavy, so allow 15-30 minutes.
Can I photograph planes from the beach?
Taking photos from a public beach is generally fine. What is banned is flying a drone or anything else into the air near the runway.
