How to Choose & Hidden Costs

Set your priority: local-ingredient exploration (Locavore NXT, Syrco BASÈ), classic romantic setting (Mozaic, Apéritif), ocean views (Kayuputi, Il Ristorante), or a budget under Rp1,000,000 (Cuca, Mauri, BASÈ Pure).

  • The ++ sign means prices exclude service charge and tax, about 21% in total. A Rp1,800,000++ menu becomes roughly Rp2,180,000.
  • Pairings can cost almost as much as the food.
  • Guarantees & cancellations: some restaurants, such as Apéritif, apply booking guarantees and cancellation policies; read the terms.
  • Tipping is optional because a service charge is already added.

Etiquette, Dress Codes & Allergy, Halal and Vegetarian Tips

  • Arrive on time and check the dress code: Apéritif and Rumari are the most formal, while Room4Dessert is relaxed as long as you are not barefoot.
  • Allergies: mention them when booking. Room4Dessert asks for at least a week’s notice for gluten-free, dairy-free or vegan menus; Apéritif cannot accommodate guests with severe or complex allergies.
  • Vegetarian/vegan: Mozaic, Apéritif, Syrco BASÈ and Cuca have dedicated menus; Locavore NXT prepares one on request.
  • Halal: degustation restaurants in Bali are generally not halal-certified and may use pork or alcohol in cooking. When booking, ask for a pork-free menu and a non-alcoholic pairing.

Stay Near the Restaurant

A degustation usually lasts 2.5–3 hours or more; after pairings, avoid driving yourself or a 1–2-hour ride home.

  • Ubud: five restaurants are spread around Ubud; stay in Sanggingan–Kedewatan for Mozaic and Room4Dessert, at Viceroy Bali for Apéritif, or south of Ubud for Locavore NXT.
  • Jimbaran & Uluwatu: Rumari, Cuca and Il Ristorante pair well with a stay in Jimbaran or on the Bukit Peninsula.
  • Nusa Dua & Seminyak: Kayuputi for a Nusa Dua base, Mauri for a Seminyak–Petitenget base.

Practical Info & Reservations

  • Book well ahead for peak season (July–August and year-end), especially small venues such as Rumari Counter (10 seats) and Il Ristorante (24 seats).
  • Use official channels: the restaurant’s website, SevenRooms (Kayuputi, Rumari) or Chope (Mauri).
  • Menus and prices change seasonally; check the official website.

Make a degustation dinner the highlight of your trip without a late drive home: compare prices and book a hotel voucher in Ubud, Jimbaran, Nusa Dua, Uluwatu or Seminyak through AccessiaPass, close to the table you have chosen.
