Bamboo Shoot Ubud: Menu, Prices and What Lunch for Two Costs

Lunch for two at Bamboo Shoot Restaurant in Lodtunduh comes to about IDR 450,000 before drinks: two mains, one starter and one dessert, plus the 21% service and tax that menu prices leave out. The all-day restaurant at the Emana Bambooscape bamboo villa complex is open daily 7am-10pm according to its Chope page, and Indonesia Expat included it in its January 2026 round-up of new openings.

What to order

Prices are from the official menu uploaded to Chope in November 2025 (checked 30 October 2026); the menu lists them in thousands of rupiah.

• Bamboo Shoot Rolls, IDR 75k: tempeh, tofu, shredded bamboo shoot and egg in lettuce wraps, with a sweet-sour-spicy sauce on the side. The dish that most clearly puts bamboo shoot, the restaurant's namesake, at the centre.
• Ayam Masak Bambu, IDR 89k: chicken fillet in spicy yellow paste cooked inside bamboo, served with rice. Marked as a signature.
• Udang Bakar Cabe (grilled chilli prawns) IDR 145k or Tuna Sambal Matah IDR 125k if you want seafood.
• Vegetarian: Rendang Nangka (jackfruit rendang) IDR 65k, Tempe Bacem Bowl IDR 69k, Nasi Goreng Bali IDR 65k.
• Dessert: Bali Chocolate IDR 65k (chef's recommendation) or ice cream at IDR 29k a scoop.

Sample bill: Rolls + Ayam Masak Bambu + Udang Bakar Cabe + Bali Chocolate = IDR 374k, about IDR 452k after the 21%. The menu also has carbonara (IDR 89k) and Aussie beef ribs (IDR 189k), but it is the Indonesian section and the bamboo shoot dishes that set this place apart from other resort restaurants in Ubud.

When to go

• Breakfast: opens at 7am. A Chope promotion updated in April 2026 lists a bamboo-shoot Bamboo Grove Croissant at IDR 69k++.
• Afternoon, 3pm-8pm: classic cocktail happy hour at IDR 100k and a beer bucket with nachos for IDR 220k, every day.
• Monday 7pm-9pm: Balinese dance performance. The promotion terms say reservations are highly recommended.

Verdict

Mains at IDR 65-189k before tax put Bamboo Shoot in resort-restaurant territory, not warung prices. First drawback: it sits on Jl. Lodtunduh I, roughly 2.5-3 km south of central Ubud according to distance data on hotel booking sites, so you can't walk there from Jalan Monkey Forest; you need a ride, and the trip back at night is along village roads. Second, being new, it has few reviews: its Chope page showed a single review as of 30 October 2026, so the kitchen's consistency is not yet well tested. If you're already in south Ubud, two other nearby openings are Kumo omakase in Pengosekan and Kaja by Numa pizza.
