Bacari Ubud: Opening Hours, Wine Prices and Do You Need to Book?

Bacari, the wine and tapas bar at Jl. Goutama No.15 in Ubud, opens daily from 4pm to 11pm according to its website, with wine by the glass from IDR 120k and cocktails from IDR 140k. The room is small, about 22 seats, so book ahead for a group or a weekend night.

When does it open, and when is the best time to go?

bacaribali.com lists 4pm-11pm every day, while Honeycombers' Ubud bar list (updated September 2026) says "from 5pm". Treat 4pm as the reference and confirm on WhatsApp if you plan to arrive right at opening. Bacari pitches itself as a pre-dinner aperitivo spot for people-watching, so 5pm to 7pm makes the most sense if you want a table facing the street.

How much are drinks and tapas?

  • Wine by the glass: around IDR 120-155k according to the 2026 Wine Book (February 2026). Twenty labels are poured by the glass with a Coravin system.
  • Bottles: mostly from IDR 600k; Louis Roederer Champagne IDR 2.3 million.
  • Cocktails: from IDR 140k (Honeycombers, September 2026). Often mentioned: the Bacari Negroni, the Revolver (cold brew and bourbon), the Gin Basil Smash.
  • Tapas: small plates IDR 45-125k, Cheese Selection IDR 160k, Bacari Tasting Board IDR 280k for two to three people (January 2026 menu).

The menus checked do not say whether prices include tax and service, so ask when you order. Two people with two glasses each and one board should expect about IDR 800k-1 million (roughly US$50-65).

Do you need a reservation?

The official site says reservations are made by WhatsApp message. With about 22 seats per Honeycombers and private events capped at 25 guests per the website, groups of four or more should book. A couple arriving early in the evening can reasonably try walking in.

Is there a dress code or age limit?

Bacari publishes neither a dress code nor an age limit. The general rule applies: alcohol is for those 21 and over, see the minimum drinking age in Bali. Bring ID if you look young.

What are the downsides?

The room is tight and the tables open onto the street, so scooter noise from Jl. Goutama drifts in. Bacari deliberately has no in-house sommelier (stated in its website FAQ), so if you want long guidance on wine you may feel short-changed. Wine by the glass is also well above an ordinary Ubud bar. Jl. Goutama is narrow and dark; if you are staying near central Ubud, walking back is safer than riding a scooter after drinks.

Where to go next?

For a cheap dinner on the same street, try Warung Siam. For cocktails built on local ingredients, Kawi in Kedewatan has only about fifteen seats, while Honey & Smoke runs jazz nights.
