Andaz Bali, Sanur: Hyatt’s Beachfront “Balinese Village” Resort

On Jalan Danau Tamblingan, right on Sanur’s beach path, Andaz Bali is laid out like a contemporary Balinese village: red brick, bamboo, andesite stone and footpaths winding between walled gardens. Opened in April 2021 as the first Andaz resort in Asia, the 149-room property stands on the land where Indonesia’s first Hyatt hotel operated from the 1970s. Its neighbour is Hyatt Regency Bali — the two are family, but Andaz is more boutique, design-led and booked separately.

Rooms, Suites & Villas

  • Rooms: Deluxe, Pool View (about 50 m²), Ocean View and Lagoon Access, whose terraces step straight into a lagoon pool.
  • Suites: Andaz Suite and Andaz Deluxe Suite, with a separate living room and a generous balcony.
  • Villas: Garden Pool Villas with private pools in the gardens, and two-bedroom Beach Pool Villas on the sand — the most private option for families or small groups.
  • Architecture and interiors are by Tierra Design (Bangkok) and Spin Design Studio (Tokyo).

Dining: Village Square & Fisherman’s Club

  • Village Square: four interconnected restaurants set around a village-style square — Wok Wok (Indonesian favourites), Blue Oven (oven-baked Mediterranean), Fire Fox (Korean-style grill with a Pocha Bar) and Deli & Bakery for coffee, tea and pastries.
  • Fisherman’s Club: a beachfront restaurant and bar with an open kitchen grilling fresh fish and seafood, perfect for a barefoot dinner.
  • Breakfast is served à la carte in the Village Square restaurants rather than as a big buffet.

Facilities & Who It Suits

  • Pools: a main pool near the beach, a shallow children’s pool and the adults-only Shanti Pool, designated as a quiet zone.
  • Kemu Mai Kids Club: for children aged 4–12, with activities such as kite making, Balinese dance lessons and treasure hunts.
  • Spa: Shankha Spa is located at the sister property, Hyatt Regency Bali, and is open to Andaz guests — complete with an outdoor Jacuzzi and cold plunge pool.
  • Beach: direct access to Sanur’s gently sloping beach path, with calm water thanks to the protective reef; guests can borrow bicycles.
  • Ideal for families with children, couples after a relaxed pace, and travellers heading across to Nusa Penida or Lembongan.

Price Range & Tips

  • Rooms generally start from around IDR 5–7 million per night; suites and villas cost considerably more, especially in July–August and over the year-end holidays.
  • About 15 km from Ngurah Rai Airport (roughly 20–45 minutes depending on traffic) and about 4 km from Sanur Harbour for fast boats.
  • Choose Lagoon Access if you want to swim straight from your terrace.
  • Don’t mix it up with Hyatt Regency Bali when booking: the addresses are side by side, but the rooms and rates are different.
