The Watergarden Candidasa: Lily-Pond Bungalows, Who Are They For?

The Watergarden Hotel & Spa on Jl. Raya Candidasa in Sengkidu, Manggis, lists three room types on its official site: Deluxe Room, Super Deluxe Room and Kul Kul Suite. Official 3-day/2-night packages for two are listed at IDR 3,175,000-4,650,000 (checked on watergardenhotel.com, October 2026). What sets it apart from other Candidasa hotels is the garden: brick paths, little streams and lily ponds stocked with koi right under the room terraces.

Which room should you book?

• Deluxe Room: the entry category. The Expedia listing gives roughly 40 m² (431 sq ft).
• Super Deluxe Room: king bed, full bathroom and a terrace built out over the lily ponds. Air conditioning, ceiling fan, minibar, safe, hairdryer and tea/coffee facilities.
• Kul Kul Suite: a king master bedroom with an en-suite garden bathroom, plus an adjoining twin room with its own bathroom. An extra bed can be added, and the suite has a private pool and a garden pergola. The sensible pick for a family or two couples travelling together.

What does it cost?

The official site does not publish nightly room rates. It lists 3-day/2-night packages for two with daily breakfast:

• Romantic Honeymoon: IDR 3,175,000-4,575,000, including a rijsttafel dinner for two and a 60-minute Balinese massage for two.
• Indulgence: IDR 3,250,000-4,650,000, including a body wrap for two and an East Bali tour for two.

The range within each package depends on room type. Room-only rates on OTAs such as Expedia and Hotels.com move with the dates, so compare them with a quote you request directly by email before paying.

Facilities

Swimming pool, Watergarden Kafe on site, Orchid Spa (Balinese massage, reflexology, shiatsu, deep tissue, body wrap, scrub), room service, Wi-Fi, babysitting, doctor on call, airport pick-up, and help arranging tours, snorkelling and diving. For a meal out, Warung Lu Putu is in the same Sengkidu area, and Tenganan village, where the Pandan War takes place, is about 10 minutes away by car.

Who it is not for

• Anyone who wants to step from the room onto sand. The hotel sits on the inland side of the Candidasa main road, not on the beach. Kayak puts the beach about 116 m away, and most of the Candidasa shoreline is seawall and breakwaters.
• Light sleepers. Guest reviews on Expedia mention night-time traffic noise from the road, barking dogs and roosters.
• Families with active toddlers. Open lily ponds are everywhere, and reviews mention slippery paths at night.
• Guests with limited mobility. Narrow brick paths and small bridges through the garden are not wheelchair friendly.
