Puri Bagus Lovina has 40 thatched-roof villas right on the beach at Pemaron village, Lovina, about 93.8 km or 2 hours 50 minutes by car from Ngurah Rai Airport according to its official site. Room rates only appear once you enter dates in the booking engine (checked September 2026), so this article gives no price figures. We compare it with The Damai, a 15-villa boutique resort in the hills above Lovina.
Room types at Puri Bagus Lovina
- Superior Garden View (47 m²): garden outlook, shower only, extra bed possible and a connecting door to the next villa.
- Deluxe Garden View (49 m²): garden outlook, shower and bathtub.
- Deluxe Ocean Villa (49 m²): Lovina beach view from the veranda, shower and bathtub.
- Two Bedroom Pool Villa: two bedrooms, a private pool and sea views. The site lists 50 m², which seems small for two bedrooms; ask for the actual size when booking.
All villas have a veranda with a daybed, free Wi-Fi and open-air bathrooms in the old Balinese style.
Facilities you will actually use
- An infinity pool facing the Bali Sea and a separate children's pool.
- Jaya Spa with a hydrothermal bath and steam room, plus a sea-facing yoga shala.
- An in-house dive centre, Saraswati Restaurant & Bar and the beachfront Seaview Grill House.
- Babysitting and family rooms.
- Free shuttle to Singaraja or central Lovina: out at 09:00, back at 11:00. Outside that schedule it costs IDR 150,000 per car one way; airport transfers are IDR 800,000 one way.
Puri Bagus Lovina vs The Damai
- Setting: Puri Bagus sits on the sand. The Damai is on a hillside, so you need transport to reach the sea.
- Scale: 40 villas vs 15. The Damai is quieter and more personal; Puri Bagus has more facilities.
- Families: Puri Bagus offers a kids' pool, extra beds, connecting doors and babysitting. The Damai's standard villas (Garden, Pool, Luxury Pool) sleep 2 adults; only its Two Bedroom Pool Villa takes 4.
- Food: The Damai cooks with organic vegetables from its own gardens. For direct bookings, its site promises one free sundowner per person per day (17:00-19:00) and one 60-minute massage per booking (checked September 2026).
Who might not like it?
Puri Bagus is a poor fit if you want to stroll to Kalibukbuk's restaurants and bars every evening: the resort is in Pemaron and the free shuttle only runs in the morning. Guests who struggle with stairs should know there is no lift. Lovina's beach is dark sand and calm water, not white sand. The Damai is less suited to families with young children or anyone who wants to step straight from the room onto the beach.
The verdict
Choose Puri Bagus Lovina if you are travelling with children, want a morning swim in the sea, or plan to dive and do yoga without leaving the resort. Choose The Damai if you are a couple who puts privacy, food and a view from above first. Before booking either one directly, check whether AccessiaPass has stay vouchers available for the Lovina area.

Dolphin-watching trips leave at dawn from Kalibukbuk beach, so ask reception to arrange transport the night before. For a soak, Banjar Hot Springs is a short drive from either resort.
