Grab and Gojek Fares in Bali 2026: How Much per Km?

For GrabBike and GoRide in Bali, the official service fare is Rp2,000-2,500 per kilometre, with a minimum charge of Rp8,000-10,000 for the first 4 km. These figures come from Transport Minister Decree KP 667 of 2022 for Zone I (Sumatra, Java outside Greater Jakarta, and Bali), in force since 11 September 2022 and unchanged as of October 2026. What you pay in the app is usually a little higher because a service or booking fee is listed separately.

Before you book: seven things people miss

  • Bike fares did not rise; the platform cut fell. Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said on 30 June 2026 that ojol fares would not go up, while the app commission on two-wheel rides was capped at 8% from 1 July 2026 (previously up to 20%). Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026, announced on 8 October 2026, confirms the transport ministry sets base passenger fares. The change mainly helps drivers; the price on your screen does not automatically drop.
  • Car fares are harder to pin down. GrabCar and GoCar fall under Transport Ministry Regulation 118 of 2018, with upper and lower limits per region. The figure often quoted for Region I (which includes Bali) is Rp3,500-6,000 per km, but it comes from 2019 reporting and we could not find a newer official table. Treat it as a rough guide, not a rule.
  • There are always extras on top. App service or booking fees, an airport exit charge, and tolls if the route uses the Bali Mandara toll road (for example to Nusa Dua) are added in the price breakdown.
  • Motorbikes cannot pick up at the airport. At Ngurah Rai, Grab and Gojek pickups are cars only, from an official pickup point in the car park a few minutes' walk from arrivals.
  • Not every place allows pickups. Several tourist areas and customary villages ban ride-hailing pickups. Details are in Grab & Gojek in Bali: Where Can't You Get Picked Up?.
  • Surge pricing is real. Heavy rain, the 17:00-19:00 commute and Friday-Saturday nights from 21:00 to 01:00 in the Canggu-Seminyak corridor push prices to the top of the range, and for cars sometimes to double.
  • Compare both apps. Grab and Gojek can differ by tens of thousands of rupiah on the same route, and the cheaper one is not always the same app.

Real route examples

The figures below come from app checks published by SB Excursion (airport routes checked 10 May 2026, other routes August 2026, off-peak). They are not an official Grab or Gojek price list, and your fare may differ with time, weather and promotions.

  • Ngurah Rai Airport to Kuta (GrabCar): about Rp106,500
  • Airport to Seminyak (GrabCar): about Rp136,000
  • Airport to Canggu (GrabCar): about Rp185,000
  • Airport to Ubud (GrabCar): about Rp338,500
  • Kuta to Seminyak, roughly 5 km: car Rp35,000-60,000, bike Rp15,000-25,000
  • Canggu to Ubud, roughly 30 km: car Rp200,000-300,000, bike Rp80,000-125,000

A quick sanity check for bikes: a 10 km ride in Zone I is worth Rp20,000-25,000 in service fare, plus the app fee. If the app shows far more than that on a dry day, check whether the route is a detour or a peak-hour surcharge applies.

Paying, tipping and checking the driver

  • Carry small notes if you pay cash. Ojol drivers often have no change for a Rp100,000 note, especially in the morning.
  • Tipping is optional. Both apps let you tip in-app after the ride, so there is no need to hand over extra cash on the spot.
  • Match the plate number and the driver's face with what the app shows before you get in. Do not accept a "Grab" offer from someone who approaches you at the airport arrivals door.
  • Do not cancel and pay off-app. If a driver asks you to cancel the booking and agree a price directly, you lose the trip insurance and the official complaint channel.

GrabCar, GoCar or a taxi?

For short hops around Kuta, Legian and Seminyak, a motorbike is almost always the cheapest and fastest way through traffic, but it is impractical with a suitcase or in the rain. App cars are usually cheaper than regular taxis off-peak, though that edge can vanish when surge pricing kicks in. At busy times a metered taxi sometimes makes more sense; compare with Bluebird taxi fares in Bali 2026.

One drawback to know: service and airport fees are not always clear before you confirm, and Bali's online car fare limits are not published in an easy-to-find official table. The final figure on the confirmation screen is the only number you can rely on. Keep a screenshot in case you need to file a complaint with the app.
