Sari Organik, also known as Warung Bodag Maliah, is one of the pioneering organic farm-to-table restaurants in Ubud. It sits in the middle of its own organic farmland, surrounded by green rice fields. What makes it special isn't just the food, but the journey to get there.
The Walk Through the Rice Fields
From Jalan Raya Ubud you turn onto Subak Sok Wayah and walk about 15-20 minutes (roughly 800 metres) along a cement path between the paddies. Along the way you'll see farmers at work, offerings being made, and classic Balinese countryside. The path is fairly flat but can get hot, so come in the morning or late afternoon.
- Wear comfortable shoes and bring a hat and drinking water.
- The path can be slippery after rain, so take care.
- You can ride a motorbike part of the way, but walking is far more memorable.
Organic Menu & the View
The menu is simple but fresh, with nearly all ingredients from its own organic garden. Highlights include fresh salads, a range of juices, gado-gado, wraps, house-made pesto pasta, and vegetarian nasi campur. As you eat, you take in soothing rice-field views.
- Price range: mains around Rp35,000-120,000.
- Great for vegetarians and anyone after healthy food.
- Come at sunset for the most magical atmosphere.
