Pura Beji Sangsit is a jewel of North Bali's carving art, standing quietly in the village of Sangsit, Buleleng. Built around the 15th century, this subak (irrigation society) temple is dedicated to Dewi Sri, the goddess of fertility and rice, as a place to ask blessings for the farmers' rice fields.
Pink Sandstone and Baroque Carvings
What makes this temple special is its material: a soft, pink-toned sandstone that is easy to carve. Almost every surface is covered in the extraordinarily ornate baroque carvings typical of North Bali — floral scrolls, nagas, and guardian demons around the gates.

Visiting Tips
