Crystal Bay Nusa Penida: A White-Sand Snorkeling Paradise

Crystal Bay is a calm white-sand bay on the west coast of Nusa Penida. Its water is crystal-clear turquoise, with a small sacred rocky hill rising in the middle of the bay. It is famous as one of the best snorkeling and diving spots in Bali, and serves as the departure point for dive trips to see mantas and the mola-mola (sunfish) that appear around July–October.

Highlights of Crystal Bay

The relatively calm water makes the bay suitable for beginners and families. Coral reefs and colorful fish are visible just a few meters from shore. At dusk, Crystal Bay becomes one of the most beautiful sunset spots on Nusa Penida.

Visiting Tips

• Access is about 45 minutes from Toya Pakeh Harbor on a bumpy road; rent a motorbike or car.
• Entry fees: since 1 September 2026 the site fee for Crystal Bay is Rp25,000 per adult and Rp15,000 per child (foreigners and Indonesians), on top of the Nusa Penida area fee of Rp25,000/Rp15,000 that foreigners pay once per visit (Klungkung bylaw 4/2026; Kompas, 12 August 2026). Payment is cashless; some reports say per-site collection has slipped, so check on arrival (checked 21 October 2026). Parking is available. • Warungs line the beach and beach chairs rent for about Rp25rb–Rp50rb.
• Bring your own snorkel gear or rent on-site; come early for calmer water.
