Bali Eco Cycling has been running downhill bike tours from Kintamani towards Ubud since 1999, and the format has barely changed: hotel pickup, breakfast overlooking the caldera at Penelokan, then a descent along village roads that tour buses rarely touch. This is not a workout — roughly 90 per cent of the route is downhill, the rest flat, and a support vehicle trails the group the whole way.
Route & Duration
- Pickup is around 8.00–8.20am for the Ubud area and 7.15–7.30am for Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu; Sanur, Legian and Nusa Dua are also served.
- Breakfast at Penelokan, Kintamani, with Mount Batur and Lake Batur in view before the bikes come off the rack.
- The descent runs along back roads past coffee, clove, cocoa and vanilla plantations, village temples, a huge banyan tree and a stop at a Balinese family compound.
- It ends with a Balinese buffet lunch beside the rice fields, with an optional stop at Ubud Monkey Forest.
- Total 8–10 hours door to door.
Package Prices & Inclusions
- Adults Rp900,000, children aged 5–12 Rp750,000, infants aged 1–4 Rp500,000 per person.
- A compact option drops breakfast, the Mount Batur viewpoint and the waterfall, saving about Rp150,000 per person.
- Included: air-conditioned transfers, breakfast and lunch, mountain bike, helmet and safety gear, drinking water, coffee, tea, fruit, entrance fees, wet weather gear, guides and a support vehicle.
- Booking direct at least three days ahead can earn an early bird discount.
Difficulty, Age & Weather
- Suitable for beginners and families; no training needed because the ride is almost entirely downhill.
- Small children can join using Australian-standard baby seats, while the advanced East Bali tour is limited to ages 13–55.
- Riders who want more can add a 6–8km flat and uphill section.
- The rainy season from roughly November to March still runs because wet weather gear is provided; mornings in Kintamani are far cooler than Ubud, so bring a light layer and wear closed shoes.

Because pickup begins before eight in the morning, staying in Ubud or Canggu cuts your time on the road — check AccessiaPass hotel vouchers to lock in a room near the pickup zone for less.
