Ubud Food Festival: Indonesia’s Flavours at Taman Kuliner

The Ubud Food Festival (UFF) is an annual culinary celebration staged by Yayasan Mudra Swari Saraswati — the same foundation behind the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival. Its main hub is Taman Kuliner Ubud in Gianyar, and the festival usually runs over four days somewhere between late May and early June. The 2026 edition took place on 28–31 May, built around a theme honouring farmers and fishers as guardians of Indonesia’s food heritage.

What Is On the Programme

  • Teater Kuliner: live cooking demos by Indonesian and international chefs, typically 30–60 minutes per session.
  • Masterclasses: hands-on classes where ingredients and tastings are included in the ticket.
  • Food tours: guided walks or drives to markets, warungs and small producers around Ubud.
  • Food for Thought: panel talks on sustainable food with chefs, farmers and writers.
  • Street-food market: dozens of food, coffee and artisan stalls across the festival grounds.

Day Pass vs Event Tickets

  • Day Pass: access to festival-ground programming for one day — ideal if Ubud is only a day stop for you.
  • Separate tickets: Special Events, Chef’s Table, Masterclasses and Food Tours each need their own ticket on top of a pass.
  • Price range: paid sessions generally start in the hundreds of thousands of rupiah (around Rp250,000), while special events can run from Rp500,000 upwards.
  • Free options: there is always a run of sessions tagged Free Events, such as film screenings and book launches.

Practical Tips

  • Book masterclasses well ahead; sessions with well-known chefs sell out fast.
  • Parking at Taman Kuliner is limited — use the free shuttle from the designated parking points.
  • Arrive hungry, bring a refillable bottle, and carry some cash for the smaller stalls.
  • Children under 12 can usually enter the grounds with an adult, but masterclasses are not child-friendly.
