ORYn Ubud: Steak Prices, Opening Hours, Do You Need to Book?

ORYn opens daily from 5pm to 11pm on Jalan Monkey Forest, Ubud, and its steaks start at IDR 485k for 200 grams (checked September 2026). The open-fire restaurant and bar opened in June 2026 and has since appeared on new-restaurant lists from NOW! Bali, Honeycombers and What's New Indonesia.

Who is behind ORYn?

It's owned by Tom and Bina Philip, the couple behind The Blue Door. The kitchen is led by Head Chef Danial Fitri Yap, former head chef of CÉ LA VI at Marina Bay Sands, who also worked in Michelin-starred kitchens in Singapore. It seats around 75, with textured stone walls and a rough-hewn rock bar.

What should you order?

The menu is built for sharing. Dishes named on the official site include kingfish ceviche with green chilli and coconut vinaigrette, tamarind-glazed duck confit, tiger prawns, spiced black cod, house-pulled noodles and torched citrus cake. Cocktails are built on gin, rum and agave, such as the Kopi Negroni, Petrichor and Palo Santo Hours.

How much does it cost?

The promotions page lists steaks from IDR 485k (200 g) and IDR 550k up to an 850 g Stone Axe OP rib MB 8/9 at IDR 2.9 million, meant for the table. Ask whether tax and service are included. Two cheaper routes: every Tuesday (Steam & Spice) all dumpling plates are IDR 50k++, and every Friday from 7pm (Steak & Flame) any signature cut comes with unlimited shoestring fries. Happy hour runs daily 5-7pm, though prices aren't published on the site yet.

Do you need to book?

For drinks at the bar, no; the bar takes walk-ins. For a dinner table, especially on Friday and Saturday, book via WhatsApp or the online form at orynbali.com. Saturday nights bring Allure Saturdays, with a live DJ from 7:30pm.

Who might not enjoy it?

Budget travellers will find the bill steep by Ubud standards; for comparison, see steak by the gram at Baker Butcher Barista. If you want a quiet dinner, skip Saturday because of the DJ. Monkey Forest Road is also congested in the late afternoon and car parking is hard, so walking from a central Ubud hotel is easier.
