Japanese Head Spa or Cream Bath at Fresh Beauty Lounge Ubud?

At Fresh Beauty Lounge Ubud, the 75-minute Japanese Head Spa costs IDR 850,000, while the 60-minute Indonesian Cream Bath Hair Spa costs IDR 545,000, according to its official site (checked 25 October 2026). Pick the head spa if your problem is the scalp itself, oily, itchy or coated in sunscreen and sea salt; pick the cream bath if your hair is dry and tangled after days in the sun.

How do they differ, step by step?

  • Japanese Head Spa, Scalp Detox & Renewal (75 minutes, IDR 850k): LED scalp therapy, scalp exfoliation, cleansing, a hydrating hair mask with steam, a head, shoulder, back and arm massage, then hair oil and a quick blow-dry.
  • Indonesian Cream Bath Hair Spa (60 minutes, IDR 545k): a shea butter mask under warm steam with a head, neck and shoulder massage. A stylist blow-dry is an extra IDR 115k.
  • Combined version: Japanese Head Spa & Kobido Facial, 90 minutes, IDR 1,050,000, if you want your face worked on too.

Which is worth the money?

The gap is IDR 305k for 15 extra minutes plus LED and scalp exfoliation. After a Batur trek or a few days of surfing, when your scalp feels sticky, the head spa makes more sense. If you simply want soft hair and a relaxed body, the cream bath is enough; even with the blow-dry it totals IDR 660k, still below the head spa. The site does not say whether prices include tax, so ask when you book.

Who should skip both?

If your whole body aches, the 60-minute Classic Balinese Massage at IDR 475k in the same place is a better fit and cheaper than the head spa. Fresh is also not a resort spa: the rooms are styled as a retro salon on Jl. Dewi Sita, with no garden or pool, and the Recovery Area with its magnesium pool is only at the Canggu branch. For a cheaper Balinese massage, compare Sang Spa or Ubud Traditional Spa; for a Korean-style scrub and cold plunge, try Hesa Wellness Spa.

Why head spas are trending, and a note on price

Bali Buddies included Fresh in its list of Bali's best Japanese head spas, published 23 October 2026. That article quotes a 75-minute treatment at IDR 600,000, which differs from the IDR 850,000 on the official site; we use the official figure here. Fresh's FAQ recommends booking ahead, especially for the head spa. There is also a small discrepancy on the founding year: the Ubud page says 2015, the FAQ says 2014.
