Looking for a good meal in Ubud without leaving the centre? Copper Kitchen, Bar & Rooftop at Jalan Bisma No. 68 is one of the most consistent options. It sits inside the boutique hotel Bisma Eight but is open to the public, not just in-house guests. Hours run 07.00–23.00, so it works for breakfast, an afternoon coffee, or a long dinner.
Why the Rooftop Feels Different
Ubud is full of restaurants with rice-field views, but few are genuinely high up. Copper sits above the Jalan Bisma valley: you look at treetops and a volcano line, not a neighbour's wall. Some vegetables and herbs come from their own garden in Tegallalang, and you can taste it. Dress code is casual.
The Menu and an Honest Price Range
The menu mixes Western and Asian cooking with a few serious Indonesian dishes. All prices below exclude 21 percent tax and service:
- Starters: around Rp115,000–160,000, for example tuna tartare and calamari fritti.
- Sandwiches and burgers (lunch): around Rp185,000–220,000.
- Mains: around Rp130,000–360,000; truffle mushroom risotto is about Rp330,000.
- Indonesian dishes: around Rp190,000–295,000 — duck betutu and seafood gulai are the ones to order.
- Desserts: around Rp80,000–135,000.
To be blunt, these are not warung prices. You are paying for produce, the rooftop and hotel service.
When to Come, and Cheaper Options on Jalan Bisma
- Quietest: breakfast 07.00–09.00, the rooftop is nearly empty.
- Best value: happy hour 17.00–19.00, which coincides with the sun dropping.
- Busiest: 19.00–21.00; book a table first.
- If you want warung prices: Warung@Bhisma (Jl. Bisma No. 76) and Lemongrass Bisma Warung (Jl. Bisma No. 53–51) are on the same street.
- Note: Melting Wok Warung on Jl. Gootama, Ubud's famous queue, no longer operates at its old address.
