Babi Guling Bali Tulen Gerenceng: 6 Things to Know Before You Go

1. Two addresses share the name

The stall described by Jalan Melali and chef Will Meyrick is at Balai Banjar Gerenceng, Jl. Sutomo (Meyrick lists it as Jl. Sutomo No. 27, Pemecutan Kaja). On Grab there is an outlet called "Warung Babi Guling Bali Tulen" at Jl. Imam Bonjol No. 213, Pemecutan Klod, which says "since 1965" and has a 4.7 score from 800 ratings. Check that the pin on your map is the one you want.

2. Opening hours differ

Jalan Melali says it opens from 8am. Will Meyrick's page (updated June 2026) says Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm. The Imam Bonjol outlet on Grab lists 9am to 4pm daily. The safest window is 10am to noon, while the crackling is still crisp and the side dishes have not run out.

3. What comes on the plate

Will Meyrick describes a basket of roast pork, plenty of crackling, young coconut cooked in base genep spice paste, Balinese sausage, fried intestines, cassava leaf urap and two kinds of sate: pork belly and minced sate lilit. Grab lists regular, special and "pisah" (rice and meat served separately) plates, plus sate lilit.

4. Lawar with or without blood

The lawar comes two ways: the red one is mixed with fresh pig's blood, the other has none. If you are unsure, ask for the version without blood. Everything here is pork, so the warung is not halal.

5. Basic setting, little parking

This is a stall in a community hall on a busy road, not a restaurant. Seats are few, there is no air conditioning and cars struggle to stop. Come by scooter, or order through GrabFood if parking puts you off. App prices are usually higher than eating on site.

6. The price has not been reconfirmed

As of October 2026 no newer official price list has been published. The IDR30k figure is from July 2025, so carry a little extra cash.
