AOKU Petitenget: Opening Hours, Cocktail Prices, Booking

AOKU is a Japanese-style speakeasy cocktail bar on the second floor of Dahana Restaurant, Jl. Petitenget No.98X, open from 7pm to 1am, with signature cocktails at IDR 185,000-220,000 before service and tax (official menu, checked October 2026). It's led by Japanese bartender Kensho Hirai and run by Kaminari Group, which also operates Dahana.

Where's the door?

There's no big street sign. Enter through the Dahana building and go up to the second floor. The room is dim, with leather booths and sink-in armchairs; NOW! Bali (January 2026) describes the concept as a deliberate contrast to Seminyak's louder bars.

What time does it open?

Kaminari Group's official site (updated June 2026) says Monday-Sunday 7pm-1am. NOW! Bali says Monday-Saturday, and Chope lists 7pm-12.30am. If you plan to go on a Sunday or after midnight, confirm on WhatsApp first. There's no official data on peak hours; since the bar is small and sits above a restaurant, arriving between 7pm and 8pm is the safest bet without a booking.

How much are the cocktails?

• Signatures: Kind of Blue (Nikka From the Barrel, matcha, jackfruit, peanut butter) IDR 220,000; So What (banana-coconut spiced rum, espresso) IDR 190,000; Blue in Green (house limoncello, sencha gin) IDR 185,000.
• Classic Twist: IDR 185,000-200,000, such as Velvet Cherry IDR 195,000 and the sweet-potato-shochu Amber Negroni IDR 190,000.
• Classics: IDR 160,000-200,000, from Whiskey Highball IDR 160,000 to Negroni IDR 195,000.
• Other: mocktails IDR 100,000, Kirin beer IDR 100,000, wine by the glass IDR 165,000.

All prices add 7% service and 10% tax, so Kind of Blue comes to about IDR 259,000. Chope estimates IDR 400,000-550,000 per person. The menu rates each drink's alcohol level from Low to High: Smoke & Herbs Martini is High, Yuzu Whisper is Low.

Do you need a reservation?

Recommended, via Chope or the WhatsApp number on Kaminari Group's site. Chope states that notes asking for a different time or party size won't be accommodated, so book what you actually plan. When it's busy, the bill may arrive 30 minutes after your last order so waiting guests can be seated.

Dress code and age limit?

Smart casual. For men, sleeveless tops and flip-flops are allowed only at management's discretion, and shoes must stay on. The menu's terms say 18 and over, while the drinks menu on Chope is tagged 21+; bring ID or your passport. Other rules: at least one order per person, no song requests, no flash photography, no outside drinks, and cigar corkage of IDR 100,000 per piece.

Who is it for?

Couples or two or three friends who want to talk over carefully built cocktails. It doesn't suit groups who want to stand, dance or be loud, because the house rules ask guests to stay at their table and keep the volume down.
