Labuhan Kebo Waterfall is one of the coolest, quietest falls in the highlands above Munduk, Buleleng. It sits in the same valley as Melanting and Red Coral, but the descent is shorter and there are far fewer visitors — often just a handful of people at the base, even on weekends.
Why It Is Worth the Detour
- Quiet and shaded. The water drops between bamboo clumps and tall trees, so the light stays soft all day.
- A short trek. The descent is around 150 steps, roughly 5–10 minutes from the ticket booth — much easier than the steep staircase down to Melanting.
- Bamboo bridge. A small bamboo bridge lets you get close to the plunge pool and photograph the falls head-on.
- Easy to combine. Labuhan Kebo is part of the Munduk waterfall circuit (Melanting, Belong, Red Coral, Golden Valley), walkable in about half a day.
Route and Travel Time
The trail head is near Melanting Cottages in Munduk village, while the waterfall itself falls within the Gobleg–Banyuatis area of Banjar district. From central Munduk it is usually a 5–10 minute drive plus a short walk; from Singaraja allow about an hour, and from Denpasar or Ngurah Rai Airport roughly 2.5–3 hours via Bedugul. The road is paved but narrow and steep, so drive slowly.
What to Bring
- Shoes with grip — the stone steps are often slick with damp.
- A light jacket or rain shell; Munduk highland air can feel cold, especially in the morning and late afternoon.
- Small cash notes for the ticket and parking; there is no card machine at the booth.
- A change of clothes if you plan to get in the water — a basic changing room and toilet are usually available near the falls.

Since Munduk is at its best early in the morning before the mist lifts, staying a night around Munduk or Lovina makes far more sense than driving up and back from south Bali — compare and book the staycation voucher on AccessiaPass first.
