Karma Kandara in Ungasan now has an Indian restaurant on the sand: Tandoori Bar & Grill, which started operating in early August 2026 according to Indonesia Expat and which the operator calls Bali's only beachfront Indian restaurant. It is open 11am-10pm daily (checked October 2026).
What's new
- 11am-5pm: Indian street food such as pav bhaji, vada pav, paneer chilli and chicken tikka kathi rolls.
- From 5pm: the clay ovens are fired up. The official evening menu lists tandoor kebabs and tikkas at Rp90-155k, vegetable curries Rp95-130k, meat and seafood curries Rp160-205k (butter chicken Rp170k, mutton laal maas Rp205k), biryani Rp165-235k, and a whole red snapper in tikka marinade at Rp370k.
- Kitchen: led by chef Jeevraj Singh, who learned to cook in his grandmother's kitchen in Rajasthan.
Menu prices are in thousands of rupiah; ask whether tax and service are included.
What it means for visitors
The restaurant is on Karma Beach at the foot of the cliff, reached by the resort's hill tram. Non-resident guests must register for a free Karma Club Guest Membership in the Karma Subito app before entering the beach club area. Registration also gives 10% off food, drinks and spa for 7 days, according to Karma Group's website. Beach access details are in our Karma Beach article.
It is not ideal if you want tandoori for lunch, since the tandoor menu only starts at 5pm. Dropping in on a whim is also more effort than at a normal restaurant because the app comes first. For Indian food on the island's east side, there is Lamuri in Sanur.
