Amok Sun & Cliff Club is open daily from 11am to 11pm on a cliff 120 metres above Gamat Bay on Nusa Penida's west coast, and every signature cocktail costs IDR 110,000 according to the official menu (checked October 2026). The bamboo venue, formerly called Amok Sunset, opened in August 2018 and has two infinity pools: one side faces the sunset, the other Mount Agung. Plenty of people arrive with a plan that doesn't fit the boat schedule, so read this first.
7 things people often miss
- The last boat leaves before sunset. The nusapenida.org guide (updated July 2026) says the last boat off Nusa Penida departs around 5pm, while sunset at Amok happens roughly 5.30-7pm. Day trippers leave before the sky turns. Want the sunset? Stay one night.
- The day-trip package leaves Amok at 3.30pm. "Discover West Penida" starts at IDR 860,000 per person (groups of 6+), IDR 1,000,000 per person in a group of four, IDR 1,300,000 per person solo or as a pair. It covers hotel pickup in Bali, the fast boat from Sanur, a tour of Kelingking, Angel's Billabong and Crystal Bay, a two-course lunch with one drink, and pool access.
- Book from 4pm onwards. Sunset-facing tables fill fast, especially in July and August.
- Midday is quieter. The pools open at 11am; lunch (11am-3pm) is calmer and cheaper than the evening.
- The last stretch is unpaved. From Toyapakeh, take the first right towards Crystal Bay and Gamat Bay, then the small lane signed "Amok Sunset". Halfway along the asphalt ends; that's normal.
- There's a free shuttle. Amok runs a shuttle from the main-road fork to the restaurant, usually every 30 minutes in the evening.
- DJ nights aren't nightly. Sun Cliff Beat (Latin house, deep house and lounge DJs plus happy hour) runs several times a month. Dates are posted on the official events calendar and Instagram.
What it costs
Signature cocktails are IDR 110,000, for example Yolo (Smirnoff, bamboo arak, passion fruit) or The Green Sour; mocktails IDR 45,000. Pizzas run IDR 65,000-90,000, beef rendang IDR 120,000, ribeye IDR 205,000. There's a buy-one-get-one happy hour on selected cocktails and wines, but no hours are listed. The online menu doesn't say whether tax is included, and no entry fee or daybed minimum spend is published, so ask when you book if you want a sundeck daybed. Couples' dinner packages cost IDR 1-2 million, and Float & Feast (sharing plates served on a bamboo raft in the pool) is IDR 700,000-800,000, booked 48 hours ahead.
Dress code, age, and who it doesn't suit
Amok publishes no dress code or age limit. It's a dining and pool venue, not a club; the day-trip package even gives children aged 4-11 a 40% discount. Bring swimwear if you want to swim. It's a poor fit if you want to party until dawn: it closes at 11pm, and outside Sun Cliff Beat nights the music is lounge. It's also impractical if you're staying on the island's east side.
Getting back: the unpaved stretch is dark after sunset. If you've been drinking, park your scooter at the fork and take the shuttle, or use a driver.
