Bali Tourist Levy Rp150,000: How to Pay, QR Voucher & FAQ

Since 14 February 2024, every foreign visitor entering Bali must pay the Foreign Tourist Levy (PWA) of Rp150,000 per person. The legal basis is Bali Provincial Regulation No. 6 of 2023. Based on the rules in force at the time of writing, the levy is paid once per visit, is separate from your visa fee (e-VoA) and does not replace it. Here is how to pay correctly, safely and without drama at the airport.

Who Must Pay and Who Is Exempt

The obligation applies to foreign nationals entering Bali, whether arriving directly from abroad or from another part of Indonesia.

  • Must pay: foreign nationals on a visit or tourist visa, including children holding a foreign passport — the rate is the same Rp150,000 per person, with no age discount.
  • Automatically exempt: Indonesian citizens, holders of diplomatic and official visas, conveyance crew (airline and ship crew), KITAS and KITAP holders, student visa holders, and family reunification visa holders.
  • Exempt only after applying: Golden Visa holders and several other non-tourist visa categories must request an exemption through the Love Bali system, generally several days before arrival.

How to Pay via Love Bali: Step by Step

Payment is cashless through the official Love Bali system — available both as a website and as the Love Bali app on the Play Store and App Store.

  • Open the Love Bali site or app and choose the levy payment menu (individual and group options are both available).
  • Fill in your details exactly as they appear in your passport: full name, passport number, nationality, arrival date and an active email address.
  • Double-check the spelling of your name and your passport number — incorrect data makes verification difficult for officers on the ground.
  • Select a payment method and complete the transaction.
  • Check your inbox (including the spam folder): the system emails a levy voucher containing a QR code.
  • Save the QR as a screenshot or PDF on your phone, and print it if you want a physical backup.

Accepted Payment Methods

The Love Bali system accepts internationally branded credit and debit cards, QRIS, local e-wallets, bank transfers and virtual accounts. If you pay after arriving in Bali, payment counters are available in the international arrivals area of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport and at the seaports. A number of hotels, travel agents and attractions registered as Love Bali endpoints can also process the payment. Paying before departure is still the most comfortable option because you avoid queueing after a long flight.

Your QR Proof: Save It and Show It on Request

The QR code on the voucher is your valid proof of payment. Officers may ask for it during checks at the airport, at seaports or at the entrance of certain attractions. Keep the file offline so you can still show it with a weak signal — a screenshot in your phone gallery is enough. For families travelling together, collect every voucher in one photo album or a single PDF so you can find them quickly in front of an officer.

What Is the Money Used For?

The Bali provincial government states that levy revenue is used to protect Balinese customs, traditions, arts and culture, and to preserve the environment and improve the quality of tourism management — including waste management and the upkeep of tourist areas. So the Rp150,000 is not merely an administrative fee; it is a direct contribution to caring for the island you are visiting.

Avoid Touts: Pay Only Through Official Channels

  • Use ONLY the official domain lovebali.baliprov.go.id or the official Love Bali app. Beware of copycat sites with lookalike domain names.
  • The official rate is Rp150,000 per person. If someone offers a processing service at a much higher price, that is not the government rate.
  • Never hand your passport or personal data to strangers in the arrivals area; use the official uniformed counters.
  • Keep your transaction records (the email and the QR). If a payment fails but the money is debited, contact the official Love Bali support channel before paying again.

Quick FAQ

  • Do children pay too? Yes. As long as they hold a foreign passport and not an exempt visa type, the rate is the same Rp150,000 per person.
  • How many times do I pay? Once per visit to Bali. If you cross over to Nusa Penida, Lombok or Java and come back within the same trip, you generally do not pay again — but keep your QR at hand.
  • How long is it valid? The voucher is valid for that visit until you leave Indonesian territory. A new visit means a new payment.
  • What if I forgot to pay? You can still pay on arrival in Bali at an official counter, at a registered endpoint, or straight from your phone via the Love Bali site or app.
  • Is this the same as the e-VoA? No. The electronic visa on arrival is your permit to enter Indonesia; the PWA is a levy specific to Bali Province. They are paid separately.

Rules can change at any time, so always confirm the latest details on the official Love Bali channels before you travel. Once this paperwork is done, the fun part begins: choosing where to stay. Save on room rates with AccessiaPass hotel vouchers — compare options in Ubud, Seminyak, Canggu and Nusa Dua, then book your voucher before your stay so your holiday budget goes into experiences rather than just a bed.
