At the southern tip of Bali, the limestone cliffs of Kutuh village rise straight above Timbis Beach and face the open Indian Ocean. Sea wind hitting that cliff wall creates steady, almost continuous lift, and since 1995 this has been the island’s busiest paragliding base. From the air you look down on the Pandawa coastline, layered limestone walls and the outline of the Nusa Dua hotels in the distance. The launch area sits around Jln. Pura Melang Kelod, Kutuh, Kuta Selatan, roughly 20 minutes from Nusa Dua.
Why Timbis Is the Favourite
- The ridge is long, with around 12 kilometres of soarable cliff, so a tandem route feels spacious rather than circling one spot.
- You take off and land on top of the cliff rather than on sand, which suits first-timers.
- Several operators are based here, including Timbis Paragliding Bali, which has run since 1995.
Price, Duration and Footage
- Short tandem of about 10 minutes: from around IDR 600k per person.
- Standard 15-minute tandem: around IDR 1 million per person, the option most people pick.
- Long 30-minute tandem: around IDR 1.6 million per person.
- Many packages already include an action camera with a selfie stick plus insurance, but confirm when you book.
- Total time on site, from briefing to finish, is usually 1.5 to 2 hours even though airtime is much shorter.
Season, Flying Hours and Safety
- The south-coast flying season runs from roughly mid-March to November, when wind off the Indian Ocean pushes onto the cliffs. The peak is the dry season, April to October.
- Operating hours are generally around 12pm to 5pm, and the late afternoon is usually the most comfortable because the wind is calmer and steadier.
- The weight limit is usually about 110 kilograms, with an age range of roughly 5 to 60 depending on the operator.
- Wear closed shoes and comfortable trousers or shorts, and tie your hair back. Sunglasses are best with a strap.
- Flights depend heavily on the weather. If the wind does not cooperate, sessions are rescheduled or refunded, so do not book your flight for the last day of the trip.
