Jimbaran Puri Belmond: Cottage Suite or Pool Villa?

Jimbaran Puri has 57 units: 31 cottage suites, 4 pool villas and 22 deluxe pool villas, all set in gardens that run straight onto the sand of Jimbaran Bay. According to Belmond's official site, the resort is about 7 km, roughly 20 minutes by car, from Ngurah Rai Airport. The main question before booking is usually just one: do you need a private pool?

Three unit types and how they differ

• Cottage Suite (31 units): from 100 m², up to 3 guests. A private terrace or wooden deck in the garden, no pool of its own. Some booking sites split it into garden-view and beach-view versions.
• Pool Villa (4 units): from 120 m², up to 4 guests, with a private pool. With only four of them, this type fills up fastest.
• Deluxe Pool Villa (22 units): from 350 m², up to 5 guests, with a private pool and a much larger compound. Booking sites also sell two-bedroom versions for families.

How much does it cost?

Rates move with dates, so treat these as rough markers. One booking site lists the cheapest room (garden-view cottage) from about IDR 4.9 million a night, while TripAdvisor's average for a standard room sits around US$319-487. Pool villas and deluxe pool villas sell higher; ask for a quote for your dates. The official FAQ says rates are quoted in rupiah and carry 21% tax and service. All figures checked October 2026.

What facilities you get

• Two restaurants, Nelayan (facing the bay) and Tunjung, plus Puri Beach Bar and in-room dining.
• Infinity pool and children's pool, and the Beach Spa open daily 10:00-21:00. In-villa massages carry an IDR 200,000 surcharge.
• Free activities: egg painting, a bicycle tour of Jimbaran village and canang sari offering-making. The bay's calm water suits stand-up paddling.
• Check-in 14:00, check-out 12:00, free Wi-Fi throughout.

For a much cheaper dinner outside the resort, Kedonganan Fish Market at the northern end of the bay is an option.

Complaints that keep coming up

• The buildings feel old. Guest reviews on Trip.com repeatedly say the resort needs renovation and the price does not match its condition.
• Dark rooms with small windows, and weak soundproofing.
• Ants, insects and mosquitoes, understandable for units in a tropical garden but a nuisance for some guests.
• There is no dedicated kids' club; children join the free activities above.
• Ubud is about 1.5 hours away by car, so it is a poor base if your plans lean towards central Bali.

So which one?

A cottage suite is enough if you will spend most of your time on the beach and at the main pool; the real difference from a pool villa is just the private pool and privacy. Honeymooners who want to swim alone should target a pool villa well in advance, since there are only four. Families of up to five will have more room in a deluxe pool villa.
