Golden Valley Waterfall, Munduk: Fee, Route and the Eco Cafe

Golden Valley Waterfall is the easternmost of the four falls on the Munduk trekking trail (Melanting, Labuhan Kebo, Red Coral, Golden Valley). It is about 15 metres tall, the pool is shallow, and the walk down from the roadside parking takes roughly 15 minutes. Sources disagree on the fee: some list IDR 20,000 per person, others found only a donation box. Carry IDR 10,000 to 20,000 in cash per person (checked October 2026).

What you get

Several small streams merge into one wide curtain of water with a cleft in the middle, hence the "valley". The flow is gentler than other Munduk falls, so you can stand close and get soaked without swimming. A large rock at the base is the usual photo spot. Above the gorge sits Golden Valley Eco Cafe, a simple timber shelter where every table faces the falls. A blogger logged these 2022 prices: nasi goreng IDR 35,000, banana fritters IDR 25,000, mango juice IDR 20,000. Several writers say eating at the cafe means you skip the entry fee.

Two ways in

Short route: park by the Munduk road and walk down for about 15 minutes. The lot is tight, roughly one van plus a few scooters. Reported parking fees are IDR 2,000 for a scooter and IDR 5,000 for a car. Long route: continue from the Red Coral ticket hut, take the uphill path and follow the Golden Valley signs. Allow 20 minutes and plenty of steps. Lovina or Singaraja is about an hour's drive; Ubud is 1.5 to 2 hours.

The downsides

If you want a tall, thundering waterfall, this is not it. The dirt path and steps get slippery in rain, the cafe toilet is a basic tin shed, and the cafe closes around 5 pm according to its posted hours. Linking all four falls takes half a day and knees that can handle many stairs. Not wheelchair accessible.
