Gelar River Adventure: New Rafting in Jembrana Since February 2026

West Bali finally has rafting: Gelar River Adventure on the Gelar River in Batuagung village, Jembrana district, opened after Regent I Made Kembang Hartawan tried it on 6 February 2026 (RRI, Bali Post, NusaBali). Until then, anyone staying in Medewi or Negara had to drive to Ubud or Karangasem to raft.

Packages and prices

• Short trek: about 1 hour, for beginners. Rp100,000 per person (Indonesian visitors).
• Medium trek: about 2 hours. Rp200,000 domestic; The Bali Sun reported Rp850,000 for foreign visitors.
• Long trek: 4-6 hours covering more than 10 km of river. Rp350,000 domestic, Rp1,550,000 for foreigners.

Domestic prices from detikBali (January 2026) include safety gear, insurance, a lunch box and a towel. Each rubber raft takes 2 guests and 1 instructor. The operator, Ida Bagus Dewangkasa, works with the village enterprise, the Gelar tourism group and Batuagung customary village, and offers pick-up for guests staying in Jembrana. He also mentioned partnerships with resorts around Medewi Beach so surfers can drop by.

How it differs from Ubud rafting

The operator himself says the route keeps changing: sometimes the raft gets stuck on rocks, sometimes it spins backwards. Who it suits, and the downsides

• Minimum age is 15, so it does not work for families with young children.
• The foreign price gap is large: the medium trek at Rp850,000 is more than four times the domestic rate.
• When detikBali visited in January 2026, the changing rooms and office were unfinished and there was no visible ticket counter. There has been little news since the February launch, so confirm the schedule before driving out.
• According to Jembrana's tourism website, the river site in Dusun Gelar Sari is about 8 km (15 minutes) north of Batuagung village centre.

Start with the short trek if it is your first time, and ask about the water level the day before, since a small river changes a lot with rainfall.
