A plate of babi guling mixed rice at Warung Babi Guling I Nyoman Siring, Jl. Trenggana No. 69, Penatih, East Denpasar, costs IDR 25-50k, with the special crackling plate at the top of that range (Balikonten, August 2025). INSTIKI's March 2026 list of legendary babi guling warungs still includes it, at around IDR 30k.
What to order
The standard choice is nasi campur: sliced pork, crisp crackling, pork satay, lawar and kuah jukut ares, a soup made from banana stem. Local reviews mention the ares soup and the way the spice paste soaks right into the meat more than anything else. If crackling is why you came, order the special skin plate.
A short history
According to Bali Post (August 2023), the warung started as a street stall and had been running for 35 years. It's now managed by the founder's daughter-in-law, Harmayanti, and sells about 100 plates a day. It also takes orders for whole roast pigs (IDR 2-4 million depending on weight), boxed rice and buffet catering.
When to go
Hours run from about 07:00/07:30 to 17:00/17:30, depending on the source. There's no recorded "sold out by" time, but with roughly a hundred plates a day, arriving before lunch is the safer bet if you want the full spread.
The downsides
Penatih is on the north-east side of Denpasar, well off the Kuta, Seminyak or Sanur circuit, so you'll need your own wheels or a ride-hailing bike. It's a plain warung with no air conditioning. And it closes in the late afternoon. For babi guling after dark, Babi Guling Candra on Teuku Umar stays open into the night.

- Prices and hours checked September 2026; bring cash.
Ask for sambal matah on the side if you don't handle heat well, since the lawar and spice paste already pack a punch.
