Juwuk Manis Waterfall, Jembrana: A Quiet Hidden Gem in West Bali

At Bali's western end, far from the crowds of Ubud and Canggu, Juwuk Manis Waterfall flows quietly in Manggissari village, Pekutatan district, Jembrana. It sits about 75 km from Denpasar, or two to three hours by road, and it is almost always empty. If you want a waterfall without a queue for photos, this is it.

Twin Streams in the Middle of the Forest

Juwuk Manis drops in two side-by-side streams roughly 5 to 15 metres high, into a shallow, clear pool. The soundtrack is simple: falling water, birds, and the occasional farmer walking past with a basket of harvest.

The Trek Down Through Clove and Cocoa Gardens

  • Distance from parking: about 1 km downhill, over hundreds of concrete steps and dirt footpaths.
  • Time needed: roughly 15 to 25 minutes down, and noticeably longer coming back up.
  • Scenery: village-owned clove, cocoa and coffee gardens the whole way.
  • Note: the path is steep and slick when wet, so this is not a flip-flop trek.

The Best Time to Visit

The rainy season, roughly November to March, makes the flow far bigger and more dramatic, but the steps get slippery and the trail turns muddy. The dry season is safer for beginners even if the curtain of water is thinner. Come in the morning or early afternoon, because the trail has no lighting at all.
