Lotus Spa Jimbaran: Balinese Massage or Relaxing Massage?

At Lotus Spa, Jimbaran Bay Beach Resort & Spa, a 60-minute Balinese massage costs IDR 414k and a 60-minute relaxing massage IDR 360k, according to the price list on the resort's official site (page updated 9 September 2026, checked October 2026). The gap is only IDR 54k, but the pressure is very different, and picking the wrong one can make an hour feel too hard or too light.

Balinese massage: for sore muscles

The official site labels it a strong massage: Balinese technique combined with deep tissue and pressure points, with a choice of oils.

Relaxing massage: for winding down

Gentle to medium pressure, aimed at easing stress. The safer choice if you are sunburnt, dislike firm pressure, or this is your first massage in Bali.

Note that 90 minutes of relaxing massage costs exactly the same as 60 minutes of Balinese massage. If you want more time rather than more pressure, the 90-minute relaxing option is the better deal.

• Sore after surfing or trekking, like firm pressure: Balinese massage, 90 minutes (IDR 474k), only IDR 60k more than the 60-minute version.
• Want to sleep well or first-timer: relaxing massage, 90 minutes (IDR 414k).
• Pregnant, at least 3 months: pregnancy massage, 60 minutes IDR 342k.
• Short on time: back, neck and shoulder 45 minutes IDR 342k, or foot reflexology 60 minutes IDR 402k.
• Want a full ritual: 120-minute packages at IDR 720k per person, such as Ancient Balinese Therapy (foot bath, Balinese massage, boreh scrub, herbal bath). Honeymoon package for two IDR 1.5 million.

Before you book

• The spa is small: four single rooms and one couple room, all air-conditioned with bathtubs. The site asks for bookings a day ahead; walk-ins only if a slot is free.
• Cancelling one day before costs 50%, same-day cancellation is charged in full. Groups must pay a deposit.
• The price list does not say whether tax and service are included. Ask when booking so the bill holds no surprises.
• Not the right pick if you want a luxury spa with views or extras like a sauna; this is a simple resort spa at mid-range prices.
