Batu Bolong has a seemingly endless supply of breakfast cafés, but genuinely serious seafood is thin on the ground. Cocomo fills that gap: an island bistro at Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No. 99, a few steps from Old Man's, cooking fish with charcoal, smoke and citrus — coastal ideas borrowed from the Caribbean to the Pacific and matched with tropical Balinese produce.
Why the Kitchen Feels Different
Instead of a generic seafood list, Cocomo works the meeting point between Bali's beachside grill culture and other tropical coastal cuisines. The space splits in two: an air-conditioned room for the hot middle of the day, and an open garden that comes into its own once the sun drops. Portions are built for sharing, so coming as a pair or a four works out best.
What to Order
- Mackerel ceviche — the most refreshing opener; citrus and chilli to wake up the palate before anything hot arrives.
- Grilled octopus — charcoal-cooked, tender inside with lightly charred edges.
- Tamarind snapper — snapper in a tamarind glaze; the grilled-fish dish that best sums up the Cocomo style.
- Lobster linguine in tomato bisque — one plate is enough for two if you've already ordered a starter.
- Coffee-aged Angus — the rescue dish for a travel companion who doesn't eat fish.
Best Time to Come & What It Costs
Cocomo opens daily from 11am to 11pm. Lunch until about 3pm is the quietest stretch; a queue starts building around 6.30pm as the beach crowd drifts in.
- Mains: from around Rp80,000++, with most of the menu sitting in the Rp80,000–175,000++ band.
- A full meal: budget roughly Rp300,000–500,000 per person for a starter, a main and a cocktail.
- Ideal window: 5.30–6.30pm for a garden table while there's still light, or lunch for the calmest atmosphere.
- Note: Batu Bolong traffic clogs up before sunset — walk if you're staying nearby.
