Warung Makan Bu Rus Ubud: Menu, Prices and When to Go

A Balinese rice porridge breakfast at Warung Makan Bu Rus costs IDR 35,000, a café latte IDR 40,000, and every price on the menu already includes regional tax (PBJT). Those figures come from menu photos visitors uploaded to RestaurantGuru in mid-2026. The warung is at Jl. Suweta No. 9, about a five-minute walk north of Ubud Palace.

What to order and what it costs

The breakfast menu (printed as 8 am-12 pm) has the clearest prices: bubuh Bali with urap, chicken, egg and peanuts IDR 35,000, bubuh injin (black rice pudding) IDR 25,000, chicken sandwich IDR 55,000, and the Western-style Morning Favorite IDR 60,000. Drinks: espresso IDR 23,000, flat white IDR 35,000, fresh juice IDR 23,000-30,000, whole young coconut IDR 30,000, small/large Bintang IDR 33,000/45,000. For dessert there is godoh biu keju (banana fritters with cheese) at IDR 40,000, and all pastries are 20% off after 5 pm.

Prices for mains such as nasi campur and crispy duck were not visible in the latest menu photos we found. Eatbook's 2023 review listed chicken nasi campur at IDR 35,000, crispy duck at IDR 75,000 and moringa curry at IDR 38,000, while another review mentions IDR 45,000 for nasi campur. Budget IDR 40,000-80,000 per plate for lunch or dinner and check the menu at the table.

Setting

You eat inside a Balinese family compound, at tables set in a garden. On TripAdvisor the warung scores 4.6 from around 950 reviews and carries a 2026 Travellers' Choice badge.

Downsides

• Lunch and dinner often mean waiting for a table. The Life Travel and Asia writer (updated June 2026) was asked to wait for a seat.
• The dining area can feel humid at night. Pick a table under a ceiling fan.
• The entrance is easy to miss from the street because it leads into a family compound.
• It is not halal-certified and the menu includes pork.
• Opening hours differ between sources (8 am-10 pm on TripAdvisor, 10:30 am-10 pm in older reviews). Call ahead if you want breakfast.

Verdict

Bu Rus suits you if you want home-style Balinese food at honest prices in central Ubud, without Jl. Monkey Forest café prices. For babi guling, Ibu Oka is still the reference; Bu Rus is better for a porridge breakfast or a relaxed meal in the garden.
