Suwehan Beach is one of the most remote and dramatic beaches on the southern coast of Nusa Penida, tucked into the Tanglad/Sekartaji area. Access & the Cliff Descent
From the parking area above, you must hike down a steep, rocky cliff trail. The descent takes around 15–20 minutes, and the climb back up feels much harder.
- Wear shoes with solid grip, not flip-flops.
- A reasonable level of fitness is needed; the trail can be slippery when wet.
- Avoid going down if it's raining or the cliff is wet.
Safety: Strong Currents & Waves
Although the water looks inviting, swimming at Suwehan is very dangerous. The currents and waves are strong, and there are no lifeguards. Enjoy this beach for the views, relaxing on the sand, and photography, not for swimming.
Best Time & What to Bring
Come in the morning for cooler weather and the best light, ideally in the dry season (April–October). Facilities are very limited, so bring your own drinking water, sunscreen, a hat, and snacks.
