On the northeast coast of Karangasem, between Tulamben and Amed, Siddhartha Oceanfront Resort & Spa Bali stands on the black volcanic shore of Kubu village, right at the foot of Mount Agung. The boutique resort has 30 free-standing bungalows and two oceanfront pool villas set in tropical gardens.
Why Stay Here
- Its own house reef: Kubu Marine Park runs roughly 350 metres in front of the resort, with several shore entry points.
- An SSI dive centre on the property, with compressors and nitrox.
- Six Elements Spa, an ocean-facing yoga studio, gym, and an oceanfront pool with pool bar.
- Dark night skies with no city light pollution — the stars are clear from the garden.
- Room types: Superior, Deluxe and Oceanfront Deluxe Bungalows, plus a two-bedroom pool villa.
Diving Straight Off the Beach
The reef in front of the resort really is dived from shore; staff carry the gear down to the entry points. The Boga Wreck, deliberately sunk in 2012, is also part of the house reef.
- USAT Liberty (widely called the USS Liberty) at Tulamben: a few minutes by road.
- Tulamben Drop Off, Coral Garden and muck diving at Seraya Secret: 5–20 minutes.
- Amed about 45 minutes; Padangbai and Nusa Penida 1.5–2 hours.
- Best season April–October, when seas are calmer and visibility peaks, though diving runs year-round.
Getting There
- About 3 hours by car from Ngurah Rai Airport; 2–2.5 hours from Ubud.
- Around 45 minutes from Amed and roughly 10 minutes from Tulamben.
- Ideal for divers and couples after quiet.
- Less suited to nightlife seekers or families wanting gentle white sand for children to swim — the beach is black pebble and shelves quickly.
